Been coming here for almost 3 years. And today we had the worst curry we have had in years. It was more like a stew, had no spices or depth of flavour. It came out so fast, wasn’t fresh and was over watery. Won’t come again, shame.

Generally it’s a given that Indian food is great for take away, but when you get a restaurant thst provides such quality and choice, sometimes it’s better to sit in and soak up the atmosphere. Starters were tasty, beef madras was cooked to perfection and decorated really well. Worth a visit if you have a craving for some wholesome goodness!

This place is splendid. I eat here about once a month, and am continually impressed by how fresh everything tastes, and what a fascinating combination of flavours each meal brings. You pay for the pleasure, but this is probably the best indian food I have enjoyed in Brisbane(second possibly to the Lamb Madras at Grand Taj in Gumdale). The staff is very helpful and pleasant, and you usually don’t have to wait long for orders or service(at least on a Wednesday night…). Also it’s very pleasantly appointed. Highly recommended is the chicken tikka entrée, the Hatu and the Lamb Bistake.

The Ceylon Inn on Oxford Street is one of four Ceylon Inn Indian restaurants around Brisbane. I’ve heard good things about this chain of restaurants, though it’s not the cheapest place for an Indian meal. The takeaway menu is cheaper than the dine in menu. Most of the meat curries are $ 16.90 on the takeaway menu, with fish curries between $ 19.90 — $ 21.90. I love that they offer some mixed meals under the Chef’s Special. Great for indecisive eaters like me, or if you can’t find people to share a few curries with you. The Vegetarian Assortment($ 17.90) is 3 vegetarian curries and saffron rice, and the Assorted Special($ 18.90) is 2 vegetarian curries and a lamb/beef or chicken curry with saffron rice. There are also a few dishes on the menu you don’t usually see at an Indian restaurant — Beef Mossamon(beef with potatoes in coconut milk) is like a Thai Massaman. And Beef Rendang is a Indonesian/Malaysian inspired dish.

Not long ago I made the grand, sweeping declaration that The Indus in Paddington was my favourite Indian in Brisbane. Time and experience has made a fool of this still wet behind the ears rookie as my exploration into this style of food has recently taken me to the Ceylon Inn on Oxford Street. After sampling a wide range of their dishes I now declare, at the risk of again appearing foolish, that this is now my favourite Indian food i have tasted! While the wide range of what everyone agreed was fantastic Indian food was brilliant the Ceylon Inn fell down a little in regards to their service. The staff were friendly enough without offering anything out of the ordinary but two drink orders failed to materialise and one of our meals arrived after the rest of us had finished. This left a bit of a sour taste in our mouths the epic quality of the food failed to just managed to appease. It’s worth noting, also, that the Ceylon Inn is a little on the pricey side. Although we did go on a public holiday so had an altered menu that was beefed up on that pesky ten per cent surcharge.
