This is a jewel of a bakery, tucked away on Nicholson Street. Delicious, fresh product, scones and sandwiches of various descriptions and friendly, welcoming staff. It’s a little on the pricey side but it’s local and it’s fresh. Definitely worth a visit!

I had a craving for a toasted sandwich yesterday and didn’t want to venture too far from home for bread so I found myself here. I am now halfway between kicking myself for not having gone earlier and celebrating that I have found somewhere so good that is so close to home. When I went at lunchtime my bread was so fresh that it was still hot. I cradled it like a baby next to my chest — smelling it creepily — the entire way home. I even thought that if I was mugged I would fight for my bread! Got home and made a toastie with the bread and it was one of the best things I have eaten all year. I will definitely be getting all my bread from here from now on and sampling some of the other things they have to offer.

The best sourdough in Melbourne! Those in the Fitzroy area shouldn’t buy into the hype over Dench’s bread — this place slays it. Sourdough loaves are delicious, dense and amazingly doughy, and last for a good week if stored properly. Staff are friendly. A mean fruit bun and other baked goodies are also on offer. Decent soy chai latte — a little bit more aniseed that other places nearby, but still nice.

If your like me, you like a healthy dose of bread in your diet. And if you like a healthy dose of bread in your diet, you will love the Natural Tucker Bakery. I only buy bread here, so can’t really comment on the other stuff they do – breakfast, muffins, scones and cookies — apart from everything looks great and they do it all with this respect for quality ingredients. To walk into this place is like a bread lovers wet dream. The smell of fresh bread baking is something that will always remain with me after I did this insane carb free diet a few years back to combat insomnia. The insomnia left me, but I was obsessed with the fact that I couldn’t eat bread(I wasn’t allowed cheese either) to the point that I would sneak a bit of straight up cheese on bread while no one was looking. Sick huh? Really, these dudes do some of the best sourdough in town. You must try it.

It’s a wonderful bakery with many delicious items on offer — like the savoury focaccias, sourdough, muffins — but the hot tip here is the $ 1.50 Scones. Awesomely delicious and authentic without the need to drive out to the middle of nowhere to get your fix.

I never used to be one for bakeries, I think it was a gluten thing for a while after traveling in Europe. But coming across the word ‘Tucker’, I find it hard not to smile and walk it to have a gander at the goods. Taking up two shop fronts and with the baking on show ever so slightly, the Natural Tucker Bakery is a sight to be seen and smelt. Synching in with my and others’ uncertainty towards the gluten, the establishment has implemented a number of desirable into the menu — spelt flour in some cases, rye, and for all ye sugar lovers gluten-free Moroccan cookies! Lunches are great — both hot and cold dishes/sandwiches and pies available, as well as a variety of loaves on show in the window. Help yourself and pay at the counter. It’s first in-best dressed stylings, so an early start for the day’s bread is a great way to start.
