It’s a chain, don’t do it! There are so many better places nearby — cheaper and better quality! Messina, Pidapipo, etc. This gelato is produced too fast, which makes it really grainy in texture — the good stuff is really smooth and shiny.

I liked the icecream here — it was similar to the Gelo Bar (in the Brunswick end of Lygon St). I had some nice chocolate icecream and a lick of some pistaccio icecream too.
The one thing that kind of annoyed me about the place though, was that they had a strange offer: buy an icecream and get a Mount Franklin Water for only $ 3 (or was it $ 2)… Now surely you can just go over the road and get a Mount Franklin for less than a dollar at the supermarket in the Nova cinema complex… What a stupid advert — and one which has cost this place a star…

Loved it! This was my first proper gelato experience — and it did not disappoint! I’ve been a couple of times now — I’ve tried chocolate peanut brittle, plain vanilla (amazing!) & mango. They were all fabulous! They have lots of awesome & different flavours to try. Staff are always friendly & willing to give you a taste test. And most importantly — they are generous with the serves! Which is good because one baby cup (1 scoop) is $ 4.60. 2 scoops is $ 6.10.
Can’t wait to go back to try more flavours!

Nice place to add to the list of places to bring a date.
What impressed me the most was the selection/​variety of flavors. It’s interesting to see the different kinds when venturing to other parts of the world. I had the canoli and apple pie flavors. I notice that this place takes a few well-​known desserts in italian cuisine and turns them into flavors for gelato. They’re all worth trying.
Just a quick warning, there are nearby places that allow smoking within their enclosed «tent» area, so you won’t be able to avoid it if you happen to be sensitive to secondhand smoke.

Dude if you’re in Little Italy, don’t go to a chain for gelato. There are so many options for authentic italian gelato in the neighborhood. Besides, the gelato at this food chain is a more like ice cream.

Is this it? Is this the best gelato in Melbourne? Oh the pain of trying to find the best of the best in Melbourne, it’s getting harder and harder to work it out. I still have a couple of places to try before I make my verdict, I don’t know if Gelatissimo will get the top spot but I think it will be in the top three.
The only way for me to judge a gelataria is by testing the lemon as it is a favour that can be found at any gelataria. In this case the lemon has a smooth texture and does not melt easy with a slight elasticity which I find desirable, lemon flavour is natural and just the right amount of sour and sweet. A strong contender.
