It had only been open a few day when we went and they hadn’t worked out the challenges. They were trying the pay queue and wait and collect your food American style. The problem was it was Australia service not American and you had an unduly long wait to collect your food and this left a large number people in a small area waiting. So the gap between order and receive was just to long. The person I was with didn’t drink and there was no real option for soft drink. I had the pastrami and rye and the person I was with had the club sandwich. The club sandwich was one of the best I have ever had in Australia. I will definitely go again and have a club sandwich. This is a bar, it is dark and the table layout doesn’t support the service they have to provide because the food preparation is to slow for the approach to service being provided.

If you’re after a nice place to eat that is still loads of fun, Longhorn is it. Meat and carb lovers in particular are going to want to read this review… Head up the stairs past 5 Points Deli(also part of the same group, but I will review that separately when I go back for breakfast or lunch) and you’ll find a great space to settle in for the night. Starting with the bar area. Awesome space for after work drinks, particularly if you get there early as the huge skylight fills the room with sunshine. The bar list is fantastic and worth staying in this area for. If you’re after casual eats, you can have bar snacks, burgers or larger bites from their seafood bar. We stopped in here for a glass of champagne before heading in to the main restaurant, but this is definitely a bar I would be keen to spend more time at. The main restaurant takes reservations, making it perfect for going out with friends or family, and it’s totally date night worthy. Like most steakhouses, it fits this in between space between casual and fancy where you feel like you could show up in comfy jeans or you could really splurge and make a special occasion of it. You can hear everyone at your table talk even when it starts to fill up — a big tick in my books! Ok, I haven’t mentioned the food yet and I really should. We started with the tomato tartare(fior de burrata) which would be easy to skip over on the menu at a steakhouse but is so good. Highly recommended! So I promised meat and potatoes and started with tomato. My bad. There is a whole section of the menu dedicated to the almighty potato. Our choice? Smoked meat poutine. Chips with gravy and cheese curds, covered with jalapeños and topped with a smokey pastrami. On a hangover, I’d probably eat this by the truckload. After an afternoon of beer drinking, it’s heaven. Also judging by that pastrami, 5 Points Deli’s rueben is going to be something else… For meat, there is a variety of steak sizes for solo eating or sharing. The rib eye is great for 2 – 3, especially if you have a carnivorous male at the table to polish it off so you have room for more sides. The somm is dangerously good. The wine list is awesome and his matches were as good as the banter that went along with it. I could see myself spending a lot of dough here. If you have room, the pumpkin ice cream sandwich is worth it for the gooey toasted marshmellows on top. They also have pie which I would go for next time. The kind of place where you’re guaranteed to leave bursting at the seams regardless of what you came in for!

Ate here the other day. Wanted to see the new venue from the le bon ton operators but it was a big let down. Staff were rude, inattentive and the food was plain and expensive. I know that they have just opened but I feel that they have a long way to go and this was not really worth my hike from the city to check it out.
