This is one of those burger places that as soon as you spot one and think«that looks interesting!» then you see about 843 stores even though it looks like a cool indie burger place. I remember Grill’d from my last visits to Aus but I don’t think I’ve ever eaten there. We were at Southland and as the food options there are pretty dire(TGI Fridays, Maccas, Nandos… meh), we decided to try Grill’d. Now, I am really over burgers so I can’t say I was super excited but actually the menu here is pretty impressive and they have a big range to choose from. I very nearly got the chicken Caesar burger but instead opted for the Zen Hen — satay sauce, coriander, carrot, salad, mayo($ 11.50). You order at the counter and then they’ll bring it to your table. They’re served on a rippled plate which is actually genius because it stops your burger juice splashing everywhere. Overall, it was a good burger — the grilled chicken was lovely but the satay sauce was a little weird tasting and I didn’t like the seeded bun. About half way through it kind of collapsed so I just ate the chicken. The side of rosemary chips were nice. Would I go back? Probably not, to be honest. It was a perfectly acceptable burger but nothing all that impressive. Although, at Southland it might be one of the better food choices.
