One of my fav places to do groceries shopping! The variety of veggies and fruits will make your head spin! Great choice of delicious deli goods and meat as well. All fresh and most of it from local farmers and producers which I really care about. The staff is always friendly and willing to help. Great place!

Ah, Clayfield Markets. Friendly faces, great customer service all within walking distance. Between this place and Aldi Toombul I don’t have to be a slave to Woolworths/Coles more than a couple of times per month. The fresh fruit and veg are plentiful, there’s so much variety. The deli section is to DIE for, and not a little bit overwhelming. My better half gets so impatient with me, because I’m known to turn into a slack-jawed, drooling, indecisive-zombie-cheese-charcuterie-fiend. He inevitably makes our choices ;) Yes. Things like milk, bread and like staples are more expensive if I’ve got to make an emergency dash. But they open at 6am and close at 7pm. Every single day. It’s worth the convenience… and goodness knows I love me some predictability! The staff are the icing on this tasty, tasty cake. Even when I wasn’t a familiar face, everyone is always willing to assist or even let me know what’s particularly delicious at the moment. Just keep on being you, Clayfield Markets!

They have a great range there, but my tip is to head to the fridge and grab a bottle of orange juice. They squeeze it fresh every morning. Nothing added, just juice, and it’s delicious. I’ve also seen blood orange juice from time to time. Lots of fresh fruit and vege, also clearly marked if it’s Australian or imported! They even have a little deli section in there now. You can pick up a small range of grocery items, but they don’t have the buying power of your big supermarkets, so expect to pay through the nose for the convenience. I don’t mind, because if I do buy it it really is for the convenience, remembering that Toombul is a short hop down the road.

The Scene: You arrive to the BBQ empty handed. Your other half has neglected to tell you his mate asked everyone to bring their own meat and any other BBQ-ing items they wanted. Wow, this is awkward when the mate asks you if he can put anything in the fridge. It’s 5:30ish pm on a Saturday afternoon which means no supermarket in Brisbane is closed(sans DFO). Thank goodness for Clayfield Fruit Market who not only offer delcious gourmet meats, but a ridiculously wonderful range of deli goods, gourmet everything(OK, I admit I may have spent a good 20 mins just looking at their range and oggling the packaging of the products), and of course fruit and vege out the wazoo. In short, if I lived this side of town, surveys state that Clayfield Fruit Market would save me from 60% similar related incidents but would be 100% my fruit market of choice.

Clafield Fruit Market has all the best bits of what you want from a fruit market. There range of fruit and vegetables is spot on, with all the basics plus a few more exotic varieties and herbs for cooking. They also have a neat little deli section packed with meats, cheese and other treats. The service is always fantastic when I have been and the wait time is not too bad to be served. Parking is ok but it is a tricky small car park to navigate if it is busy.

I had to urgently find baby carrots and uncut pancetta last Saturday morning(don’t ask) and I knew exactly where to go. Clayfield Fruit Market is open from 6am and sells a lot more than fruit. Everything is incredibly fresh but it’s the service that knocks you over. I couldn’t see the baby carrots, so I asked somebody who dropped what he was doing and took me over. He then helped me pick 3 matching bunches and insisted on bagging them for me. The deli meat section is particularly impressive. The glass display case is stuffed with European delicacies, and of course I could buy an inch think slice of pancetta to make lardons with. The prices are good, the produce is fresh and the service is amazing. What’s not to like? Oops I just remembered the one jarring note — Clayfield Fruit Market is situated in a wee complex with a great little butcher and a fishmonger. The bakery however is a Brumby’s. Weird. Why isn’t there a little independent artisan bakery to round out the Saturday morning shopping trip?
