I love the idea of a bar which only has a? for it’s name, that is what made me want to go there, it is such a great concept and? certainly lives up to its concept. ? seems a little out of place on Oxford street, it seems to me it would be more in its element in Newtown or Surry Hills, but maybe that is an advantage, making it a niche of Oxford St. The atmosphere of? makes it a interesting place to be with an eclectic mix of antique furniture sitting on the astro turf lined floor — which really works under candle light, chandeleirs and red ceiling lights. Old Freezer chests and Barrels are used as tables and the DJ desks are also on barrels. Vines of leaves and flowers hang from the ceiling and the walls are a crazy mixture of bizarre and creepy cartoon and graffiti art including a very weird Jesusesque image and behind the DJ area a mural of a big growling tiger with a sedate and confused looking woman staring into space as she holds his tail. On a Saturday night when I was there, House music added to this already strange but interesting atmosphere. I will come back.
