It’s a pity that when you are in a place surrounded by beautiful gardens and the perfume of roses in the air that a café can’t do the surrounds justice. Café Botanica is more over grown weed than manicured garden. It needs a prune both to the structure and to the menu. The interior is reminiscent of a drab school canteen and unfortunately the menu is bland and boring(please inject a bit more excitement into it or lower prices). Paying $ 11 for a basic sandwich, although fresh, is far too much. Other meals go well up to $ 18. The café is situated in the grounds of Swane’s Nursery(which has exquisite lawns and rows and rows of roses). There are shady trees as well as a couple of gazebos spread around the front so my tip is that you are better off packing a picnic, coming up and admiring the roses and checking out the nursery if you are travelling up to Dural for the day.

The location when in a nursery should be ideal but it’s location is on the access road so not a ideal as it could be but still ok. We thought we’d try a late breakfast so we placed the order at the counter as there was no table service. The food took so long to come out even though it wasn’t busy and when the food arrived it was good honest food but not a gourmet meal. They have there own coffee roaster onsite which should mean good coffee but the first cup came without much flavour but reasonable milk and when we ordered a second cup it was way too HOT not great experience.
