Raceway Park

Although it’s not the kind of park you’d venture too far out of your way to go to, this is a bit of a local secret. It’s never too full of people despite it being in use by every kid in the neighbourhood on a regular basis. The play equipment has recently been changed to a large plastic playground. It’s great for small kids (and a bit safer than what was there before) but my son was a little disappointed they had removed the rock climbing wall that was previously in place. The best thing about this park is the covered area at the opposite end of the park, which is a great place to sit and watch the kids go crazy while having a quiet barbecue with friends. You’re far away enough from them that you can hear yourself think but close enough to keep an eye on them. As the park is surrounded by a quiet part of East Fremantle suburbia, there’s no worries about speeding cars or the like. A local gem.
