Stopped here on the way back from the Blue Mountains at the recommendation of my friend’s parents. The baked pork chop on rice was very flavorful with a tomato based sauce and a sprinkle of cheese melted on top. The greens(forgot what kind) was cooked well with plenty of ginger mixed in. However, it went downhill from there with the blandest Hainan chicken and rice I’ve had and the even more bland jook/congee with chicken and mushroom(wife still had a cough). I know jook has a tendency to be bland even with stuff mixed in but it didn’t help that this jook seemed like it was mostly water. There were plenty of diners at this suburban restaurant and my friend’s parents certainly have their preferred dishes, but we were hit and miss on this outing and can only give two stars.

Im literally born and raised on their chain of Hong Kong restaurants. I basically live here based on the frequency that I visit. 50% of my food intake is probably from here every week. Lets just say I ate here 3 times last week and twice so far this week… Don’t be expecting 5-star waiters but they’re super friendly and they probably recognise me now *haha* and the food is bomb and definitely worth the price. I’ll probably be back tomorrow for more :)

Breakfast here… first, one star is given to the friendly-unfriendly service, a very authentic Hong Kong style chai chaan tang. Breakfast set — luncheon meat w fried egg sandwich, don’t ask, a Hongkonger favorite. You can see from the photo that it deserves no star… really pathetic. French toast — quite good, nothing to complain about when there is peanut butter inside. Congee –absolutely sad w no thousand year egg pieces, the only saving grace is the fried dougnut. The plain rice roll was swimming only in soyasauce, no seasame sauce, no sweet sauce. The iced milk tea was good, but the yinyang was really sad. Will come again only when I am very desparate!
