I was surprised when my friend suggested dinner at the Eden Hill Bar and Bistro with her kids.. . generally my experience with pub food is pretty average and not a place for children(or the civilised for that matter) but wrong I was on this count! As we walked through the entrance her kids ran off, well aware of the fun zone(playroom) at the back of the dining room. We followed the red carpet through to the tables and it was a complete flip. The bar is a double sided set up with a huge diving wall that runs along the length providing a level of separation which looks great! The tables have paper over the white table cloths which is great for aspiring artists and the menu was very reasonable. My friend ordered the salmon and I ordered an antipasto plate. YUM!!! The serves were very generous but the quality was superb. We were both defeated by the meals but made appreciative inroads. The bread in particular was amazing– I would put it up there with the addictive nature of Sizzler bread, small thing strips that must have expanded to 3 times their original size in my tummy!(The chef who was gauging the reception of his food was also a bit tasty himself.. .) The service was good, maybe a little casual off the mark but I could only think they wanted us to enjoy our time there– perhaps it was a mutual«appreciation»?! The prices were between $ 16-$ 30 for the mains and the kids menu was a $ 10 steal(including ice-cream for dessert!) Delicious from the kitchen right through to the wait staff, and the food is great too!
