Tilly’s Espresso Bar & Cafe

Tilly’s is the last place you expect to find after emerging from the Kings Cross Parking Station on a Elizabeth Bay Road.
You’re instantly reeled in by the specials board, and then it’s the atmosphere sinks the final hook in and magnetises your backside to the nearest free seat in the house.
The smells of espresso shots being pulled, bacon cooking, eggs poaching and other delicious thing cooking will send your senses in to a frenzy… It’s either that or the hangover your towing around on a Sunday; whichever.
The eggs were perfectly poached and seasoned lightly with fresh pepper, the bacon was done to a turn, and the sourdough toast didn’t need a hammer and chisel to cut through. The spinach was perfectly wilted and lightly buttered; and the coffee was so good I wanted to savour every mouthful. Or maybe it was the baristas accent making me want to stay!
This place is right on trend as far as hip coffee bar and cafés go. They lost a star because they forgot my second coffee, but the experience was fantastic otherwise.

This was an excellent breakie find in King X. Cheap, tasty and quick it checks all of the requirements I need in a place. The hot chocolate was decent too. Its a small hidden café inside the ground floor of an older apartment building, but just across from the fountain. Wish I had discovered this place 3 years ago!
