Nice place for a bite of lunch. Popular, range of cabinet food and great sweet treats. Coffee was lovely as was ambience. But only accept cash. Does not make it easy to treat friends to lunch if you have to dash off to the bank.

Have eaten at Cavallini many times… usually ordering the Italian hot chocolate and a cake. The hot chocolate used to be thick, rich and delicious however this time it was weak overly sweet and not enjoyable at all. Tried to explain this to the wait staff but kept getting different answers as to why. The staff actually were quite rude. Not a very good experience this time at all. They may be popular however they have lost a couple of customers with their terrible indifference to customer service.

OMG — fabulous artisan bakery in the heart of Clifton Hill. We gorged on an almond croissants and cannoli but everything looked delicious. Grabbed a box if macaroons for afternoon tea as well — wished I lived closer to it!

A greal locale to catch up with a friend on a lazy Friday afternoon. Needless to say this establishment is a little squishy, yet the cosyness is also an attraction in the cooler weather. Their lattes aren’t too bad, yet I love their artisan bread. The turkey, brie and cranberry baguette represented exceptional value at $ 8.90 a pop. Beware this establishment is a cash only establishment. The service is super quick. You will be pleasantly surprised the moment your meal arrives before you even have had a chance to put bum on seat properly. I am coming back for more.

I discovered Cavallini’s this morning and my life has altered forever. Who knew(well clearly a few Unilocalers) that an authentic slice of Paris had been served up in Clifton Hill? I was planning on waxing lyrical over the artisan bread, the gourmet cakes and the eclairs but my fellow Unilocal reviewers have covered that. But what I feel I can’t stress enough is how lovely the macaroons are. The rainbow of options will tear you apart. Will it be the flavour of the week, the wild strawberry, the classic pistachio? I’m here to tell you that it should be the butterscotch. These tiny pieces of sweet heaven are worth their $ 2.50 price tag. Don’t take my word for it try a range before choosing your favourite, clearly you should just give in and get 6 for $ 12. Now stop reading this review and get to Cavallini!

Mignon? Macaroons? Éclair? Crème brulee? This is French sweet pastry heaven! My bestfriend, who just happens to be French, loves it here. For her, it’s authentic and delicious. Located in Clifton Hill, slightly a trek if you don’t have a bike, but if you’re on public transport, the 86 drops you off around it, Cavallini is an artisan bakery and patisserie that serves some amazing things. They make good coffee and have service with a smile, which is always nice. My favourite item to have there are the mignons($ 1.50), which are baked goods filled with some form of cream filling or other. I love the hazelnut and coffee flavoured mignons, but they also have strawberry, chocolate, and pistachio — all equally good. If you’re craving something sweet, definitely check out Cavallini. But do be careful; otherwise, you’ll end up with a bag full of sweets and will have to eat it all on your own.

I was brought here by a French friend who said that this was the only place in Melbourne she had found to make authentic eclairs that matched up to those she was used to in France. That sounded like quite a qualified reference, so I decided to indulge. Like Kate, I was sucked in by the macaroons. They look incredible and they taste even better than they look. As for the eclairs, they were also amazing. If you suffer from a sweet tooth, I’d stay well away from Cavallino. You might just start spending the whole of your pocket money here when you should be saving those pennies. It’s a good job I don’t live around the corner! Go in and everything you see in front of you is just TEMPTATION!

The macaroons here are to die for. There’s nothing like getting six for $ 12 and not sharing them with anyone(get into the Wild Strawberry and Butterscotch). They have a badass flourless chocolate cupcake which is wonderful in its rich chocolaty deliciousness. Plus they sell packaged brownies so it’s a good place to buy thank-you presents from. Cavellini sell the type of cakes and treats that you want to savour because they are so nicely made and taste so amazing. It’s an incredibly nice place to take someone for a coffee. They’ll think you’re really well to-do for knowing about such a goldmine. They don’t take bookings, so on weekends you’ll have to try your luck to get a table around lunch time. But that’s only because everyone knows it’s a great place to have a coffee or more. I had a tea here and even that was served in a gorgeous cup and pot. I also have to add, the staff here were fantastic. It’s aesthetically pleasing but really, it’s the cakes that will bring you back.
