I was starving and this looked like a good enough place to get a bite. Plus I would have sold my only child for a cup of coffee at this point. We walked in — there were a few tables on the inside and you walked through the café and around the back had bigger tables than the front. Also a surprise outside area with tables under some umbrella’s. We sat outside to enjoy the warm Melbourne sunshine and await our nectar from the gods. The food came out as did the coffee. I asked for an egg roll, which took forever to get through to the staff that I wanted just an egg roll. She kept asking me if it was a bacon and egg roll that I wanted. I tried to explain that it was one of those, minus the bacon… It wasn’t until her colleague stepped in and rang my order up on the till that she finally understood what I wanted. Anyway, by the time I got my bacon and egg roll minus the bacon it was pretty sad looking. It didn’t have any BBQ sauce on it like I requested. I had to steal the sauce from my partner’s meat pie that he ordered. The coffee was ok enough. But I could have happily have not dealt with the 10 minutes at the till trying to explain an egg roll to the lady behind it. Not much wow’d us as other things in the area.

Located right in the café district of Queens Parade in Clifton Hill, they are alright, but until they can step it up a bit they’ll probably never be able to compete with the other nearby competition. We ordered our meals and they didn’t give us napkins with the cutlery so I had to run in a grab some. Plus, they forgot about the wine we ordered so I had to run back in again. They also didn’t know where it was going to. I know that sometimes mistakes happen but they seemed pretty well staffed for the day so it’s not like they looked under the hammer. The food was alright, however when you’re right next door to some pretty fierce competition you would think you’d try to match the service or a least offer a different experience to the usual cafés.
