Fried egg on a bahn mi — where have you been all my life?! Protein on a vego bahn mi has always been an issue. More often than not, the only vego option is to go sans protein in what is then a slightly Asian flavoured, cheap salad roll. But hark, a new contender for vego protein, the fried egg. Tin Bin Bo is tucked in next to Video Ezy just off Grange Rd, Kidman Park. They are a neat & clean little take away shop, with cold rolls, vermicelli noodle bowls, and rice bowls along with a large range of bahn mi, including roast pork, lemongrass chicken, fried egg or combination. Chili is offered as a complimentary extra while your sandwich is assembled before your eyes, and is sliced lengthwise without pesky seeds. Coriander, spring onion and sweet-tart pickled carrot go on automatically. Fat, rectangular rods of pickled turnip are a nice addition. No tomato available. The roll is crunchy on the exterior, but not as crunchy as other Adeladian offerings, and there is no wholemeal alternative. Coconut sauce is offered as well as soy to moisten the sandwich, and together the two are very tasty. Overall a solid vego option for lunch under a fiver($ 3.50) and just $ 3 without the egg.
