Emma café not only serves the best coffee I have found in the valley but they do it with the cutest blonde girls with huge smiles always! Plus they give you a cute little delicious biscuit with your coffee. Emma uses Campos coffee and has a very cute atmosphere. Check out the little lawn gnomes that people bring in to live at the shop! If you like a nice cup of coffee in the sunshine, and if you love garden gnomes I suggest trying it out.

There’s no better way to kick start the day with a perfectly strong coffee teamed with personalised service, alongside bearers of fabulously styled hair. OK the last half of that sentence was a lie — my hair looked more like a dog’s breakfast that day(thanks for that, rain), so obviously I chose the table out of sight of the adjoining hairdresser. This little espresso bar pumps out coffees to go; for the aforementioned hairdresser(the stylists are constantly running across the liquid gold for their clients), and for those who’ve decided to pull up a Parisian chair on the Astroturf underneath the Blue Sky Coffee umbrellas. The barista when I visited was lovely and promptly brought out my soy latte whilst pre-emptively apologising for her soy milk frothing skills(they were pretty spot on, actually). I’m a sucker for places that serve something sweet with their coffees, so finding a tiny chocolate chip shortbread on the saucer next to my coffee… well you’ve won me over, Emma.

Hidden amongst the businesses on Robertson Street in the Valley is Emma, a teeny tiny café doing coffees and snacks Monday to Saturday. Jumping on the kitsch bandwagon, Emma is endearingly decked out with Astroturf and a collection of resident garden gnomes. My coffee was lovely and smooth, and came with a mini choc-chip shortbread, which made the whole experience that much sweeter. It seems like a nice addition to the Valley coffee scene, and hopefully the slightly out-of-the-way location won’t work against Emma. A text + drink service, where the customer texts their name and order through to the store and the coffee is ready for them in ten minutes, is an interesting innovation and one that I think could appeal to workers on the move.

Emma is a super cute café which is only new on Robertson Street in the Valley. Complete with astro turf, garden gnomes and great coffee, this little hideout is a wonderful place to stop for a caffeine hit. My first few trips to Emma I was just getting takeaway coffees(made with Blue Sky Coffee) but I recently discovered that they have free wi-fi so have been making more Carrie Bradshaw style appearances. There is limited alfresco seating, so weekends and peak times in the morning can be tricky if not timed well. Despite this little place churning out a lot of coffees in the mornings, I’ve never had a disappointing cup. The service is also consistently good with friendly staff and short waits for takeaways. Plus, you get a mini shortbread with your coffee! Ummm… awesome! Definitely check this little gem out if you’re looking for a new caffeine hideaway.
