The bar isn’t that big with a few wine barrels and some stools inside and a sneaky little courtyard with more barrels and stools, out the back. There’s an extensive wine by the glass list and you are also welcome to select a bottle from the racks on which you pay an additional corkage fee. Much better value than the huge mark ups in most bars. Drinks on tap rotate, with two ciders and two ginger beers on the evening we visited, including one with chilli for extra zing. More ciders by the bottle are stocked in the fridge including this delicious 750ml bottle from France for $ 25. Happily, there was not a Dirty Granny or Strongbow to be seen. Part bottle shop, part bar, it’s hard to categorise. The licence is for wine and cider only. So no beer or spirits. They have a cellar packed with an eclectic mix of wines including some gems such as Rockford Basket Press. Anthony described it as ‘Visiting your grandfather’s cellar after he had died and discovering what he’d been hoarding.’ There is no food so you are welcome to bring your own or order from the Chinese restaurant next door and they’ll deliver. How often do you see this? I felt a bit odd turning up with a box of biscuits, a wheel of brie and a plastic knife but the staff could not have been happier for us to munch on our own snacks. What an interesting place this is.

This place is truly great. A gem in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley where you can meet for pre-drinks and enjoy a very very very large range of ciders and BYO food. The people who own this place are fun and will have a chat if you’re ducking in on your way home from work… places like this make Brisbane fun!

You’d hardly except a civilised and classy broad like InCider Trading to stand proudly on this stretch of Wickham Street, but here she is. Proudly a wine and cider bar only, there’s no rowdy revellers or beer slugging bogans to be found, just vast knowledge of wine and cider from the store’s owners Tim and Dan. By wine by the glass to sip in their courtyard or grab a bottle for home. There’s also BYO food(or order from one of the neighboring restaurants, and if there’s 2 staff on they’ll pick it up for you).

I had a little time to spare before an event and decided to wander around Chinatown. Hidden among the Chinese/Vietnamese restaurants and asian groceries, you will find this wine and beer oasis! What a fantastic little find in Fortitude Valley. The Reisling poster posted outside caught my eye and then I peered into an incredible place stacked high and wide with wine, wine, and more wine. Dan greeted me when I walked in and told me a little about the creative idea behind InCider Trading. He had a group who had booked a table in the back to chat and have a few drinks. You can book it for you and your friends too! If you want to have drinks inside, you pay a nominal fee in addition to the cost of your chosen beverage. For each drink, it’s about $ 2.50 and for bottles in the cellar, it’s $ 10. If you were to have the same bottle at a restaurant, you’d be given a 300% upcharge. I would say you’re getting a mighty fine deal here. You can also add food if you’d like. Just ask to see some menus or just have them pick it out for you. They had an array of wines including many from the South such as Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills but are adding wine in the Queensland area as well. They also had various ciders such as apple and pear to choose from too. They have done so much with the space where you can sit on a stool and enjoy your drinks on barrel tops. The little details they have added are perfect so come see and try it out for yourself!
