I didn’t have much in the way of expectations, but this turned out to be quite an impressive pizza. I liked the location too, it’s a bit removed from the street; quiet, alfresco dining next to a fountain. I went with a Funghi, which is usually a risky order as I like mushrooms but white pizzas can be bland. But this was a really good mushroom pizza, perhaps the best of its ilk I’ve had. The mushrooms were varied in character and cooked to a point of desirable softness, and some onions and creative cheese mixing kept the whole thing quite lively. The crust bubbled up in a way that was almost, dare I say, American. Their menu is limited and their prices substantial, but it was tasty enough that I would definitely want to come back again for a red pizza.

Hey, good pizza in Australia! Who knew?! The crust was delicious. Chewy, crispy, thin, wood-fired classic. The tomato sauce is a little unique — not the tried and true San Marzano base. It seemed like it had a bit of, I dunno, cream maybe? Still, it was tasty. The soppressata had good flavor and the toppings were well proportioned. Although extremely overpriced as I find most places in Oz to be, I can’t argue with the results. Tasty pizza, at last!

Wow, search high and low for a great pizza place. Found it! thank you to the wonderful wait staff — Jordan was outstanding. Prices for pizza $ 20 for wood fire and wine list is pretty good. Must book in advance for a table. Really nice place that is casual and friendly.

I split the potato and bacon pizza and the cauliflower starter, and both were fantastic! The pizza was really superb– a perfect crust full of wood-fired flavor. And the wine was good too. This place is a WIN.

Pizza’s have a great base and the Broccolini and Scamorza was very tasty. On another visit I had the Bianco, don’t bother with this one, nothing on it and no flavour, olives were very average and the was so little chilli I couldnt even taste it…

Early Friday evening. 6pm. Pre movie dinner sought. Outside tables bustling. One large group table reserved outside. Sitting empty waiting for diners. Walk to entrance and greeted by rushed waiter. «Table for 2? Eating Quickly?» «Yes. Inside is okay.» Seated by the door. Waiters rush around us. Offering us menus appear to be an afterthought. Wonder if we’ve taken a table soon to be occupied by a previously booked reservation. No. Blackboard inside so beautifully illustrates that bookings only taken for groups of 8 or more. A group of 8 or more sits directly under said blackboard and making such noise it is hard to hear the conversation with my dining partner. Finally get menu. I ask«Are there any specials this evening?» A hurried, «No just what’s on the menu» is relayed. Waitress rushes off again. He remarks, «Is this it?» He orders crab linguine. I order mushroom pizza. Reasonable cocktail and wine list though. Impressed. Food comes, hurried, almost plonked on the table and again we’re left to our own devices. Linguine is a smaller serving than expected. Pizza definitely big enough for two to share but isn’t the mushroom delight I had in my mind. Finished we ask for our bill. Twice. Every interaction is like we’ve interrupted them from something or someone far more important. Concerned what’s happened between past reviewers dinners and ours. Just a bad day, Tinderbox or something more? Conflicted.

A great place without the pretentiousness that you get at places opening up around James Street. The staff were attentive(borderline intrusive, maybe bored as the restaurant was not full, but at least there was always someone to top up our water), foreign and friendly. The food is simple and amazing. We had the Le Daniele(sp?) pizza with delicious base, salty prosciutto and two types of cheese. The gnocchi was pillowy, fried to golden, and the sauce had a nice bite. All pizzas and mains are about $ 21-$ 24. Great wines by the glass(around $ 9 – 11 — we chose a local one from the board) and a beautiful cheeseboard to finish(despite the menu, ours came with half a(beautifully ripe) fig and a delicious paste that was likely quince, in addition to apple and crackers). I can see myself making this a regular mid-week dinner. They only take bookings for 8 or more people. So if they keep up this standard, I see it virtually impossible that you would be able to get in on a Friday or Saturday night. The old couple next to us seemed to have been repeatedly already, knowing the menu off by heart. I hope for their and our sakes, this delicious casual spot doesn’t change with time.

Nice staff, good pizza… they’ve just opened so hopefully they will stay as friendly as they were tonight. Other meals looks tasty but small portions. $ 8.50 charge for a gluten free pizza base seems steel, glad I didn’t need to order it.
