In amongst the tourist gimmicks, there are some genuinely great stalls at Fremantle markets which locals visit. The convenience of Clara’s is that it’s located right next to the bakery, ice-cream stand and your fruit and veg so you can basically do all your shopping in one go(& treat yourself!). They stock lots of great alternative products that are hard to come by in Perth like non-dairy cheeses and nutritional yeast.

I came across Clara’s one day in Fremantle Markets when I honestly couldn’t be bothered trekking over to Kakulas Sister with a full basket of groceries. What I did find was a gourmet selection of nuts, seeds, flours, chocolates, oils, and amazing vegan treats. Score! If you’re in the market and are cooking something special, this really is the place to go. Much like Kakulas, the place is self serve. What you do is grab a paper bag and a scoop from the counter, and fill up your bags with a delectable variety of organic, wholesome nibblies. I’m seriously addicted to the roasted almonds and sweet potato chips! Prices are fairly decent for organic products, although i tend to keep away from their milks, flowers and nut butters because you can find them cheaper elsewhere. The service here is also exceptional. When I visited here with my broken foot the lady who works here would actually fill up my bags for me whilst I perched on the counter and directed her to what I needed. How many grocers do that?
