Okay, while I’m in absolutely no state to be able to afford antiques at this stage in my life, I can certainly appreciate them, and there’s a lot to appreciate at Lauder & Howard. These guys sell high quality antiques, we’re talking pieces that average five to ten grand. But when you see them, with their beautiful patterns, designs and craftsmanship, you can understand why. Lauder & Howard specialise in colonial furniture, porcelain and ceramics, Victorian art glass, Oriental ivory and decorative objects, period chandeliers and lamps and so much more. It’s an expansive store that’s beautifully laid out, a testament to the owner’s and the manager’s good taste. Also, these guys are really lovely, and don’t make you feel at all like an ignoramus(if you happen to be one).

Lauder and Howard are one Fremantle’s oldest Antique stores. Operating since 1979, these guys have decades worth of experience and knowledge on different styles, periods, countries and materials. And as part or the Australian Antique Dealers Association(AADA), which is affiliated with the International Confederation of Antique Dealers(CINOA), they’re pretty much the maestros of antiquity. Unlike most antique stores I’ve found, the gentlemen who work here are sincerely kind and happy for anyone to nosey through their store. It’s more like a museum actually, with everything from garments, to furniture, to porcelain, to fine art on display. Everything is in practically pristine condition, and naturally, they provide authenticity certificates. I usually just admire their wares in store, but if you’re like me and adore unusual design, they’ve got a stack of design magazines on the left hand side of the store to sate your aesthetic appetite.
