This is a really fun store I love it I used to go as a kid and we’d get to make a wish and get fairy dust to bring home, I love it :)

As an adult, I rarely find much of interest at The Pickled Fairy, but that’s kind of the point. It’s for the kids, who go absolutely nuts in here. It’s a great shop to take a niece or nephew when you’ve got no idea what to buy for their birthday. They’ll hop around, fascinated by the shiny things and delighted to be there and will want about five hundred things in the shop. It is a little expensive, but not when you consider the overheads that must be involved in running a shop like this. Glitter, fairy costumes and ludicrous decorations don’t buy and maintain themselves. I’m young enough that I remember coming here as a kid and freaking out myself, so it’s nice to take kids along and experience it through their eyes.

Pickled.. . perhaps. I was in love with a similar store when I was an aspiring fairy myself back in Federation Square Canberra times, however aside from the glitter and fru-fru fairy dresses all in all I found myself largely disenchanted. The shop assistant was lovely as she handed out hand fills of glitter to smaller more captivated customers, instructing them as to how to make a fairy wish. 9Heads up– potential glitter in the eye hazard right there) the pirate paraphernalia was novel– whatever, I did pirates, but the fairy figurines were down right creepy– like plasticine fairy impostors… begging the question, where’d all the unicorn riding fairies and cute pixies go??? For a splash of colour or to momentarily silence a lamb– this is the place to be(just cover up the brochure that says ‘the pickled fairy and other myths’) would i have a themed party here– the toadstool stools say yes, would I buy anything keep sake.. . not unless i wanted to break dreams. Fairy lights are dimming for this pickled possum.

I’m probably not the target market for this store, but it certainly doesn’t stop me from crossing the threshold into this sparkly, magical realm that is The Pickled Fairy in Fremantle. It’s right next door to Arc of Joan, and is best described as the little sister store of the esoteric store. Whereas Arc of Joan focuses on magick for adults and alternative therapies like Reiki, crystal healing and meditation, The Pickled Fairy is a world of tutus and wishing wells. The store is set up like an enchanted path, winding around the store with discovery at every corner. The have everything from costumes, to toys, to bedazzled hair brushes, wands, jewellery, books, candles, figurines, goblets and loooooads more. It’s the kind of store a 5-year-old would go ape-shit in. Who am I kidding? I do it now! The chicks who work here are also very cool hippy types who really live and breathe the fairy role perfectly in store. I half expected them to glitter bomb me on the way in.

This really is a real life fairy land. As a child, this was one of the most amazing shops. It would be the first thing I had to see when we got to Fremantle. It is all sparkly and girly. They sell everything fairy related, fairy costumes, toys, wands, figurines and more. Its not just fairy things it is really most mythological things. Although some things can be a little on the pricey side, especially with $ 5 pocket money. Thats where the lucky dip comes, it is $ 2 and your bound to get something girly and cute. This would be my choice. They have boys lucky dip too!

The creators and owners of The Pickled Fairy should be delighted with the magic they have created in Fremantle. The Pickled Fairy is a place where little girls and boys can come and believe in the magic and goodness of fairies. The staff here are dressed as fairies and enjoy telling stories and tales to the children while they try on their very own fairy costume. They host children’s parties, it’s suitable for children five and over, they have both the«Fairy Party» and the«Mermaids and Seafairies Party», and for boys there is the«Crystal Mountain Adventure Party» and for kids under five, there is the«Teddy Bear’s Picnic in Fairyland». All of these parties are storytelling parties, where the birthday child is the hero of the story. It’s like a play where the activities, singing, dancing, wishes and drawing are all a part of the story. It’s such a creative and cool idea, and I wish I was a kid again just so I could go to one of these parties! The Pickled Fairy crew then opened up The Flying Teapots which hosts their Mad Hatters Tea Parties which are a sit down, enjoy wonderful food and tea and birthday cake, great for between 5 and 12. Both The Pickled Fairy and The Flying Teapots are amazingly creative and wonderful, inspiring kids to embrace using their imagination and keeping the magic of believing in the fantastical alive.
