Patio Coffee Roasters & Coffee Craft

Coffee Craft is the front of house for Patio Coffee Roasters. It’s a café/​coffee paraphernalia shop. They have fancy home machines & grinders, jugs, tampers etc etc. They have a large selection of beans that are roasted on site, single origins as well as special blends. They also do barista training and machine hire.
I spoke to the owner Basil, and was interested to know the he has been roasting for over 20 years and was one of the first roasters in SA. Him and his staff know their coffee.
They use Bonsoy and I’ve seen them use various cow’s milk. I think they use Paul’s now. Parking behind the building can be accessed from South Rd or the side street. I’ve even parked in the neighbouring businesses parking spots… I’m sure they don’t really like people doing that though.
Overall, great ethical coffee & nice service.

Im very happy I decided to try one morning. Coffee can be hit-​or-​miss, but their coffee was fantastic.
Service was OK, what ruined it was what seemed like the owner and his companions were behind the counter talking loudly.
I know good coffee takes time, but I was waiting roughly 8 – 10 mins for mine. Because I usually get it on the way to work, I want to be in-​and-​out as quickly as possible; which means most mornings I will not stop to purchase one because I fear it will take too long. Parking is also a tad tricky.
Lastly, the minimum eftpos is $ 10 which mean I need to buy 2 coffees plus something small if I want to use my card. If I have no cash, it will prevent me from buying a coffee that morning.
Overall though, this is a coffee place and they do damn good coffee!

Coffee craft seems to be one of the lesser known establishments catering to Adelaide coffee geeks and snobs. Get into kids — this place will blow your mind. They sell a bunch of fancy pants and random bunsen burner style coffee machines as well as the usual fare. Their target audience seems to include connoiseurs and commercial end users, as their opening hours are a little restrictive and the South road location is not exactly winning any prizes in my book.
They have a bunch of single origin and blends available to drink onsite, or purchase and take home. The basic choice is between African, South American and Italian beans, but for those who are a little more adventurous they stock representatives from Mexico, India, PNG, and Indonesia (urgh bitter!).
The point of difference at Coffee Craft is that they roast all their beans on premise and they will grind to order at your specified thickness. Course, or fine… the choice is yours. Sorento is our household’s blend of choice, earthy and chocolatey and not too bitter.
There is small selection of cakes and Friands incase you want to take a break and sample the goods while you shop for your coffee supplies.
