There’s a few Japanese places around Glen Waverley, literally within a two minute walk of each other. The newest of these is Circuz. The restaurant was at one time an Italian place, and the initial impression that I had was that of it’s Southern European past, largely thanks to the style of the chairs and tables. But that feeling soon dissipated when I tucked into my first bite of teriyaki chicken. The waiters and waitresses were polite and attentive to our needs. Food came out quickly and was well presented on the plate. In a place where restaurants open and close faster than just about anywhere in Melbourne, this one seems to be doing well, and I hope it stays, as it seems to be giving the older establishments a run for their money.

I was confused by this place. The décor screams Italian but the food says Japanese. Nonetheless the food here is fantastic. They do a mean teriyaki beef, and the chicken ain’t half bad either. The servings are fairly small, but from my experience that’s pretty typical of a Japanese restaurant. The prices are not cheap, but again that’s pretty typical for Japanese. The staff were fantastic. I’m so used to eating in Asian restaurants where the staff are very abrupt, but here they were so happy and friendly. I’m glad I went here and would happily go back again.
