The Red Door

I’ve been coming here for my hair do’s for years and I’ve never been disappointed. The salon is spacious, welcoming and well decorated. This is a local family business and the conversation tends to be fun and lively amongst the customers and hairdressers. I like the selection of homewares and hair products too

The Red Door in Partridge Street at Glenelg South is a hairdressing salon with a difference — they ‘re also an antique store as well as a jewellery shop … and then they’re also a bag shop!
Sounds like an odd combo when you write it like that but these guys have combined the two (or several) arms of their business and seem to be making it work. This is a beautifully decorated salon — and yes they do have a red door! Walk into the shabby chic interior and not only can you have a hair cut or colour but you can also pick up a new cupboard, piece of furniture or a vintage bike. I like to think of them as sellers of beautiful things. Their range of costume jewellery is just stunning and they have a beautiful selection of leather bags.
Now while I admit, I’ve never used their hairdressing services, I am forever peering through their front window to see what they have on offer in terms of quirky pieces. This place is definitely worth a visit if you like unusual and one off things — or if you just need a haircut!
