Awful awful customer service from odious staff at Zara burnside in adelaide. Absolutely embarrassing for australia to drag down the brand like this. What a pity.

For Christmas my wife purchased me a blazer from Zara. It was well undersized and did not fit. So on the first available day my wife and I went to exchange it. Only to be told that we could not exchange or refund until the 9^th January as it was the store policy! My wife was not advised of this at the time of purchase.
Dear Zara it is not for you to determine when I can have a refund. If an item is not fit for the purpose then I’m entitled to a refund. I did try on a couple of bigger sizes but none fitted correctly. At 180 cm and 80kgs I am able to fit into standard sizes, but for some reason not at Zara.
After some stern words with someone who was supposed to be a manager we were able to get a refund.
Aside from the refund issue, the range and price of clothing is reasonable. The store itself is well lit and spacious. The staff can be difficult to get a hold of, but will assist when you find one.
I am likely to come back but anymore negative experiences may put a stop to that. For a store that arrived with so much hype in my eyes it has fallen well short of the mark.

Zara is the newest fashion phenomenon to open up in Adelaide. There was much media hype around its arrival as it is one of the few shops present in Australia. Despite this, it’s opening was a bit of an anti-​climax. Downstairs is the majority of female wear. It is sporadically set out so you need to spend a fair bit of time looking around. The sizing is also quite large, so expect to be buying items in the size smaller than you usually would. If you are quite small, like me, it is possible that even the extra smalls with be too big, which is very depressing when you finally find something you like. Furthermore, the change-​rooms have caused a bit of kerfuffle. Only the person trying on clothes is allowed in the change-​room so if you want to show someone something you have to walk out into the store. I have heard many clients abusing staff about this, however it is unlikely to change.
In the second room downstairs is all the male clothes, which I must say I preferred over the female selection and upstairs is casual female and child wear. Whilst saying all of this, I walked out with some amazing purchases. They have a great range of female jackets, in lots of colours and they all fit well. There are also some amazing nighttime dresses, that hopefully half of Adelaide haven’t already purchased. The prices are also quite reasonable, which was surprising!

Zara, oh how I have missed you! Having been blessed to have travelled a fair bit I have shopped at Zara chains in Europe and also interesting out of the way places such as Manilla, One thing I could always count on is that I could find any basic item or something more interesting at a good price in almost any country. It is interesting to note that many Adelaideans have been disappointed but that’s because their expectations were probably along the lines of a new high end fashion store, which it isn’t.
They stock the most amazing range of shoes but compared to the clothing they are a litttle more pricey. The clothes that I have bought years ago are still going strong and the quality is definitely there for the price. The day I swept in to the new store with my daughter in tow I was really delighted with the store: spacious and well laid out, however I did’t go on a busy day. My daughter bought a beautiful camel tailored jacket for $ 80 which was fully lined and well stitched. Most clothing in this price range elsewhere is pretty cheaply made.
The only reason I didn’t give Zara five stars was the staff. Unbelievable, that with all the launch and fanfare that they didn’t get this right. First of all it was hard to get hold of a staff member even on a quiet day and the staff manning the changerooms were very disinterested and didn’t show any desire to help out. In the end I did find someone on the check out that showed some initiative and desire to help.
Another tip; Beware of the sizing, don’t be dismayed if you have to try clothes that are one or two sizes bigger than normal as they are cut for the Asian market. My daughter, who is usually a small or extra small needed a medium. Although, again I think they should have corrected this as women generally don’t like buying clothes that make them feel like they have put on weight.
So, typically wonderful Zara but woeful service and strange sizing.

Now I did hear all the hype, live radio broadcasts and Internet raves of Zara and thought — oh man, another snobby store I will love in the window of and wish of buying.
But since I visited Burnside shopping centre today, one of about four times ever, I was quite surprised how nice the store is, how friendly the staff were and the quality and price of the clothing.
I said to my partner, let’s just look quickly for a laugh so we know what everyone is talking about. But when I met up with him in the men’s section, I said — there are actually a few things here I wouldn’t mind, and can afford! And he said the same.
There were no lines, great considering it was 4pm on a Sunday, and the staff and other shoppers were fine.
I wasn’t bothered too much by fake assistants, I happily browsed and walked around with a surprised, but happy, look on my face. Meanwhile the swarms of security watched over my shoulder it felt like.
But I will be returning, and so will my partner, and we probably will buy a thing or two. Not just because it has Zara written on it, but because we actually liked the product and found the experience in store pleasurable.

So the first time I met the Zara chain was when I was living in London.
Now in little Adelaide town the biggest news to hit our streets this week is that Zara has come to stay… in Burnside, which got my hackles up almost immediately.
The thing is, Zara is a lot cheaper overseas, so when I happened to waltz in there the other day I was slightly ticked off at the pricing.
I was greeted at the door by a security guard who was altogether too friendly and not scary enough for me to take him seriously as security, but hey, looks can be deceiving.
The main theme for Zara is understated designs, so the store comes across as a little boring first hand. There are some great pieces in there though and they’re spread across two levels with children’s wear upstairs, by the way you’ll never catch me paying that much for something a kid is going to grow out of in a week!
all in all, Zara is like a shiny new toy. I think maybe once the snatchy grabby disease has worn off of Adelaide’s women, Zara might be a store I will visit again. I dont feel safe when there are three girls eyeing off the same dress in the same size, circling like vultures. This is how cat fights begin and I bailed before I was inadvertently involved in one

Zara, Zara, Zara. Bloody Zara.
For those who have been living under a rock, international clothing chain Zara has decided to grace Adelaide with its presence by opening up last week in Burnside Village. Having just returned home from my shopping experience, I am more than ready to give the low down.
As far as first impressions go, Zara Adelaide is a bright and spacious two-​storey store. The well thought out layout made it easy to browse through their immense apparel range, and therefore I originally found it more enjoyable to shop than Zara’s Burke Street store in Melbourne– so kudos to the Adelaide development team.
The clothes are nice and fairly simple, yet slightly overrated. Still, Zara quite cleverly has it covered no matter the age or whatever the occasion. Men, children and women can definitely find something if they really want to.
Now to the reason why at the end of the day I did not enjoy myself, and that reason being the line for the change rooms! The Zara hype was apparent and I acknowledge that the store has not been opened for even a week yet, however I still think waiting 45 minutes (minimum) in line for a change room is a bit much.
By the end of waiting in line I was so flustered that I barley even wanted to try on the items. The bright lighting suddenly felt florescent and I just wanted out. Alas I didn’t buy anything. Joy. Not only that, but the last thing I wanted was to wait in another cue to purchase my items. I just wanted to leave Zara, leave Burnside and go home.
Turns out that I would have been better off going to the thirteen change rooms on the downstairs level as opposed to just four upstairs. If only one of the ample staff could have pointed this out earlier.
Overall I guess I’m not entirely discouraged and probably will head back there at some point, just not until the hype begins to fade.
