Gingers is the Argo’s On The Parade of the inner South. Brilliant coffee, and importantly, none of that burnt taste so common to trendy brunch places these days. Solid, satisfying menu. No changes to it in the 6 months I’ve been going but I guess what point is there in changing a good thing? Staff are outstanding. And the service! Apart from one occasion recently when eating breakfast with a team from work(~10 people), the coffee and food will come out so fast, you’ll be blown away.

I love the vibe, great food, good service and I love that it is local! You really can’t go wrong with this place if you’re feeling breakfast with a great chai latte or even a buger with a side of fries and a sharp, freshly squeezed apple juice! A treasure on Goodwood Rd!

Ginger’s are quickly becoming a go-to fave. I’ve been getting take out coffee here for a long time, but it’s their breakfasts I’ve been really digging lately. First thing’s first. The service is excellent. The staff are so welcoming and accommodating. I’ve been here with a few friends with prams and they will always make sure to find a table where we won’t feel like we are taking up everyone else’s space. The coffee is solid(read excellent), and soy and zymil are available(pretty standard these days), but will come at an additional cost of 80c. Another thing I love is the quality and tastiness of the breakfast. I’ve had the Breakfast Burger, Breakfast Burrito and Smashed Avocado recently and all are delicious and balanced with little need for additional seasoning. I will say that the prices are at the close to $ 20 and changes come at a cost… Want bacon with your Smashed Avo? That’ll be an extra fiver. Also, the juices, whilst amazing are a little small for $ 8! Overall though, Ginger’s is fab. There is plenty of seating across the café, with a really nice area out the back too. Definitely recommend.

Ginger’s! Oh my goodness, what a marvellous place! Its like your grandma’s kitchen thats been taken over by her granddaughter and funked up. Its awesome! I loved that they have a short term entrance for quick pick up of coffee’s and nibbles, and then around the corner is the seated area — a brilliant idea to split the two so you don’t have congestion of people waiting to pick up to go mixed with people waiting to order a sit in meal — because you get to give your order at your table! Genius. Also, theres a cute as little outdoor area out the back. A lovely range of places to sit and eat! The range of food is fresh and flavoursome, with burgers and shakes and juices and lovely food to choose from! We had such lovely staff looking after us, they were so friendly, it really made our time there just wonderful! I am so keen to go back again and again! What a rad place!

Gingers is one of my favourite go-to places for a goooooood cuppa coffee! They are the sister café of ‘The Pantry’ café on Egmont Tce — so if you’ve been there you can expect a similar style at Gingers. Gingers Coffee Studio uses an eclectic mix of tables and chairs and have funky artwork on the walls, giving this café a very hipster feel. Their menu has a range of breakfast and lunch options — my personal favourite is the burger! Service has always been polite and prompt. They usually have a bowl of water outside if you happen to bring your puppy dog on a hot day. Overall — this a great breakfast and lunch joint but it can get busy on the weekends so keep that in mind!

Im an absolute maniac when it comes to finding every café with a nice outdoor area and this one was on our checklist to check out after an unsuccesful attempt at getting a table at Mothers Milk. While it looks hokey from the outside its actually two huge rooms and an outdoor area conjoined with a butt tonne of space! Outside made us do a little bit of a Russel Brand and both of us were stroking the furry wall(artificial lawn covers a huge combined bench and wall), there was a septic smell that day in the area but I think they might have been working on the loos next door so no drama, will definetly be coming back regardless haha nothing could put us off the food! The burger and chips my partner had were presented well and my breakfast was awesome, highly recommend the mushrooms as the side was huge! All the service was great and the mismatched chairs gave the place a cool retro feel, pretty groovay baby!

Great little spot for breakfast. Service is quick and very little chit-chat(this is a good thing). Food portions are excellent. Nice coffee. Have been back twice now

Coffee amazing, service flawless, food great… 95% of the time. The food can sometimes, I feel be hit or miss. I have had meals with people on 3 different occasions now and every time 2 out of 3 meals have been perfect but one always just missing the mark slightly. It’s hard to be over critical because as other reviews have stated the staff are extremely friendly and go out of the way to make sure you have a enjoyable experience. Despite small issues with over/under cooking I have to say that the food has always been really tasty and they have a nice menu with something for everyone… Bare in mind they do sell out of things so get in early if you want the full range of choices. They also have a small but very nice wine list that feature BK wines, Some young punks and Alpha box and dice(at the time of this review) which are all fantastic wines! At the end of the day I WOULD go out of my way to pop in for a coffee but probably wouldn’t do the same for a bite to eat Unless I was meeting people.

The Ginger Burger with a massive side of herbed fries. I’d have to say the best burger I have eaten. Perfectly – and interesting – seasoned beef, fresh salad and… and… the jalapeño aioli. Next time, a ramekin of the aioli will be requested for the fries. Best burger. Best burger.

I like it! They are a bit pricey but the vegetarian chickpea burger is yummy and they give you extra aioli sauce to dip your fries in if you ask nicely. Great service! They get their coffee beans from the Coffee Barun and I’ve been told the owners of Ginger’s also own The Pantry in Hawthorndene — where they serve De Groot Coffee, which is now on my radar…

Great little spot for dinner on a Friday night. I highly recommend the tasting platter(it’s called something else that I can’t remember now) to kick the night off. It was a huge serve — enough for 6 people! The live jazz band was an added treat. Blue Lagoon are amazing crooners.

Ginger’s is a funny old soul. Mad props to the excellent decorating skills that were churned out on the café, Ginger’s sit nonchalantly at ‘extremely-so” on the hipster ambiance scale, and all the details are to point. I’ve been here a few times, for brekkies, lunches and the odd dinners and Ginger’s is A-OK. The staff are chirpy and happy, full table service is always a plus, and even though the venue is huge, there are seats out front for those waiting for a table, so they can kick back a tad. The coffee here is top notch and I love it to pieces, the baristas really know how to make a good coffee, even if it does sometimes take 20 minutes to arrive. The breakfasts are OK, but limited if you don’t eat eggs(or the forever offered eggy alternative of museli) but the burgers are what this place sells its self on. The chickpea burger is prone to falling to bits, but is all yumminess and the fries on the side are nicely seasoned. There are more often than not burger specials on, and this is when I like to be adventurous. I’ve had a few kitchen delays here, and there have been times when my order has dropped into the ether and the manager kindly shouted us a beer as an apology, but its happened a few too many times to be a once off thing. Overall, I like Gingers, and the coffee is top notch, but meals wise, I opt for a few others around the place.

Firstly, I can’t fault Ginger’s for their friendly staff. The girl who served us was new but very sweet. However, I have to echo a couple of other reviewers here on the quality of the food. My poached eggs on sourdough were OK though a bit watery. The avocado on the side was brown-spotted.(And tasteless, though this was clearly not Ginger’s fault. Curse you, seasonal eating!) However, I also seriously wish that cafes would stop serving brick-like chunks of sourdough. I ended up almost sawing through my plate to cut this one in half. It’s hard to have a heart-to-heart with a girlfriend when you’re working up a sweat over your breakfast crust. Secondly, egg-smelling glasses. Dudes. Duuuuudes. If you’re going to insist on chucking your glassware in the dishwasher with eggy plates, please soak them in white vinegar first OR wash them separately. Ginger’s is not the first café I’ve been to with this problem, but, boy howdy it puts me off. Coffee was lovely, though.

I popped in here after a dance class to get a hot chocolate, as I have been wanting to check out this place for a while, having pass it almost every day. I am glad I did. It’s got a cool, funky vibe and gives you a warm fuzzy feeling. I’ve also never had anyone as me what strength do I want my hot chocolate to be. What? I thought maybe they thought I said coffee, but no. It was good too. The staff also like to have a nice chat with you, which is good. I have to come back another time and check it out properly.

It seems that Goodwood Road is notorious for shop closures and re-openings, but this one went completely past me — and it takes up TWO shopfronts! I heard about it the first time from a lecturer, but actually went there the first time with a good friend. There are two entrances: one to the main eatery, and the other at the takeaway bar — a good set-up I think since it appears to be busy all the time. We had to wait for a table, but the staff were very friendly and checked regularly on us sitting at the corner, so we did not at all feel neglected as customers. They have gone for a «junky vintage» kind of interior that I have found to be common in suburban cafes — the look that embraces the cracks in walls, half-exposed brick work, and simple furniture — so it gives off an unimposing and friendly vibe that is perfect for casual lunches. The menu and prices don’t particularly stand-out from what you would usually expect from other suburban cafes, but the quality is just as good. Ginger’s is vegetarian-friendly and offers options beyond a salad and toast. I opted for a the chickpea burger, which I was very impressed with. The patty’s own flavour was not drowned by the condiments, and didn’t resort to imitating meat in both taste and texture. Their chai latte was creamy and spicy with cinnamon — like a warm hug that was still appreciated despite the heat of the day. Despite the busy-ness of the day, the staff remained diligent and friendly. For those interested: the left side used to be the Frangipani florist, and the right used to be the site of Goodwood Shoes. ***Edit: it was not previously a wine cellar. I was thinking of the wrong corner!

I really wanted to like Ginger’s…I really did. They are in a great location away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD, they open really early so you can beat the weekend rush, and they have a great heritage(The Pantry). Alas, it was not to be. Sunday was my second visit and it was a repeat of the first. On the good side, they have great and friendly service – if I were only reviewing service they would get five stars. We were greeted promptly, guided to a table and asked for a coffee order – good job with that. Also on the good side were the coffees. Rich, tasty and made to our special request. But the chairs – they were give-aways from the torture museum in Rothenburg(trust me-I’ve been there). Made of metal, they had these angled bars that hit your hip bones on both sides. There were some comfy chairs around, but we didn’t get any. Most of the chairs are these butt-pinchers. I spent my breakfast sitting at a 60 degree angle to avoid pain. The food is generally pretty good-but it has its low spots. Last time we were here, my wife ordered what sounded like a great omelette from the menu description. What was served was a big, flat, rather dry egg cake. She only ate a few bites. It was not an omelette. On this visit, I saw the table next to us get the same dish. Again, they only ate a few bites(every else at their table cleaned up their plates). This is not a coincidence – skip the omelette. This time around our dishes both included poached eggs. For both of us, the eggs were overdone – very little runny bit – mostly just cooked through like a hard boiled egg. Their spicy sausage, mushrooms and baked beans were great(beans are spicy!). The smashed avocado on the toast that came with the special was good, but there could have been a little more avocado. So, we find the food runs below par here. We can recommend Gingers highly if you want a coffee and get to sit on one of the comfy chairs or the couch – but we’d pass on having breakfast here a third time. Eat, drink and be merry – but not too much! JD

Great atmosphere and coffee to match! Love this place on the weekend. Great for breakfast and lunch with some really interesting dishes on the menu. Also the juices are flash-Harry. A top tip of mine: if you travel by tram to jump off, grab a coffee then carry on your merry way. You will be the envy of all commuters around you!

The staff at Ginger’s must be on some amazing natural happy ginger drug because they are the friendliest, welcoming bunch of people around. To that end, walking into the cosy(not cramped) and buzzing(not hectic) Gingers makes you feel like you’re stepping back into your Mum’s uni pad from the 70’s. The breakfast menu is great for drooling over and I had a bit of food envy when I saw the breakfast burger walk past and onto someone else table. They are also changing things up with their«specials» board and I couldn’t go past getting my Mexican on and trying their Huevos Rancheros. I had heard rumours about this dish being incredibly good and while every ingredient from the beans to the fresh avocado and the flaky, warm tortilla were delicious, the key part of the dish — the huevos — were burnt on the bottom. I so very much wanted to love this dish but just couldn’t! Huevos are what I look forward to in the morning! Arguably though this place is still getting 4 shiny stars for their sumptuous coffee — they use Bonsoy — and the staff being so friendly that you just want to give them another chance. My other dining companions also raved about their vanilla and fresh apple bircher muesli and salmon and poached eggs so I feel I can’t be too judgmental. They’re like a puppy that look up at you with big brown eyes after its peed all over your favourite arm chair… This place is a great edition to Goodwood Rd and wins in my books.

If you’re a fan of the Pantry on Egmont then you should really come check out Ginger’s Coffee Studio, their new sister store in Goodwood. The café is in a great spot, just across from Goodwood Primary School, on Goodwood Road. It’s not as tucked away as the Pantry. Ginger’s has that same 70’s kitschy vibe, from the bright orange chairs to the containers that line the shelves behind the counter. It’s fun, but not pretentious. Don’t worry, this isn’t just a re-hash of the Pantry. They’re like twins: they may look the same but underneath they’ve got different personalities. The menus, while similar, are completely different. So there’s definitely enough reason to frequent both. It seems like a meeting place for young families, so feel free to bring the kids along. You’ll also find parking behind the café, which only adds to its appeal.
