The food here is some of the best brunch food I’ve had in the blooming Adelaide café scene. I couldn’t decide what to eat as everything coming out of the kitchen looked so good! I will definitely be back to try more menu items! The one star short of 5 is for the coffee. Unfortunately not a very nice coffee for such a good café

I may be a little biased… but how awesome is Goodwood? Close to the city and fab public transport options… plus great spots for tasty noms… Trouble & Strife included. The menu, written upon brown paper that adorns the outer wall, evolves over time, but the dishes I’ve tried have each been so tasty and a little ‘different’. The smashed avocado with peas, fetta and mint was a fine example of how messing with expectations a little delivers delicious results. The coffee here is top notch and they use the Rewardle card system, which I appreciate as it saves me filling my purse with yet another loyalty card. I’m torn between 4&5 stars… I think I need to eat in a couple more times before I up them to 5 stars… I’m a toughie at times, but Trouble & Strife are pretty damn good.

Ahhh, this place makes me ever so happy. An excellent addition on the Goodwood strip, T&S has a varied and seasonal menu that caters for vegans, veggies and those with intolerances well without destroying the budget. Its become my go to place for breakfast on the weekend due to the coffee, menu and price. Nestled in between the bottle-o and the butcher, T&S is full of flowers, mismatched furniture and baked goods channelling a strong Frankie magazine vibe. Coffee is top quality, I even dare to drink black coffee here, and they are accommodating of your requests(over ice, hot, less milk etc) without looking at you like you’ve lost your mind. I’m a fan of their smoothies which don’t get too complicated and they have a varied juice menu that lets you pick your own combinations or opt for their own creations. As said above, the menu does change, but my favourite currently is the smashed chickpeas with salsa and feta with bacon as an extra. That is something I really do love about T&S, the extras. Most menu items have options like bacon, halloumi, avocado, eggs etc which helps you make your menu selections just right for you. I don’t eat eggs(I’m not allergic, just not a fan) so going out for breakfast does run into problems as so many places have eggs as a major feature so being able to choose what I’d like is awesome. Also, no penalty for messing with the menu, woo hoo! Breakfast and lunch do overlap here too, the burgers are nice but I tend to eat off the breakkie menu as breakfast is always the best! Prices here are also great, about $ 9 – 13 for a breakfast meal and coffee isn’t exorbitant compared to similar cafes of this calibre. Great for coffee catch ups or brunch but not so much for groups larger than 3 due to cramped space, so watch out on larger groups. T&S is my default for the Goodwood area.

One of my favourite ways to start the day is with a quick pop in to Trouble & Strife. Positive and genuine service goes a long way in my books, and they serve it up in spades here. The menu is uncomplicated and full of varied goodness. And of course the backbone of any great café, the coffee, is brilliantly delicious. These guys are a great addition to the local community.

The bold name, coming from cockney rhyming slang for ‘wife’, immediately puts this cafes’ best food forward with a cheeky grin. This little offering sits pretty on Goodwood road and wants to tell you that you’re stupid for going anywhere else and spending more than the bargain basement prices they have on offer for breakfast and brunching, most hitting under ten dollars. The menu is short and sweet, speaking of sweet bring your sweetner since only raw sugar is on offer here *insert joke about T&S being sweet enough*. Having lunch with some friends I grabbed a large coffee which was hella large, hella yummy and hella quick. They tried the BLT(of which I nicked the cheeky eggs on the side) both simple and delicious whilst the steak snaga with caramelised onions, the special of the day, really dazzled. Really cool venue again heed warning if you’re super duper picky as the menu is pretty thin. Best for a bright sunny day, with a coffee and paper on hand.

Smashing full-bodied coffee! And babyccino came with a marshmallow(that always scores points with the kiddos). Décor is rustic vintage & not pretentious or hipster at all. Service was warm & friendly. The freshly baked goodies include brownies, cupcake, savory and sweet muffins. The all-day menu is interesting and would please most palates. I haven’t tried the food yet but will return soon & will be happy to up the rating to five stars if the food is as good as the coffee! It’s located between Gooodwood Cellars &IGA, a few doors down from Boulangerie 113(which was closed today — Mondays). Heaps of street parking out the back.

When it comes to Trouble & Strife, the recently opened café in Goodwood, you’ll have no trouble — in fact, you should get there on the double! Ok, enough rhyming from me. A group of workmates & I hit up Trouble & Strife for lunch today. We had been warned that the majority of the menu is centered around breakfast/brunch items(and it is) but there was plenty to choose from for lunch as well.(And hey, who said you can’t have two breakfasts?) The interior is small but cute. The owners haven’t tried to do anything fancy, but it has a cosy/hipster feel about it without trying too hard. The menu is handwritten on brown paper on the wall — which says to me that they will be changing the menu on a regular basis. The owner confirmed this with us, saying they are adding about two new items each week. While I was tempted to have porridge for lunch, I settled on a bacon & egg brioche roll. Others in the group had the housemade baked beans & pastrami sandwiches. Everyone was very happy with what they ordered. Watch them make the iced chocolate — I had definite food envy when my friend was presented with it. Service was fast & friendly & the price was right. We treated ourselves to baked goods as we were leaving, which are baked in house. The owner confirmed that they can do the entire menu as takeaway which will be fantastic for those days when I’m running out the door without breakkie. So I probably will be having the porridge soon anyway. With an iced chocolate.

Housed in the space that use to accommodate Yellow Pumpkin, Trouble and Strife is just the café that Goodwood needed. A bit cheaper and more laid back than Gingers, the coffee and food are just as good. Try the smoked salmon on rye with cream cheese, radish and greens. A fresh and healthy way to start the day. The coffee is solid, they use Dawn Patrol beans, roasted in the Adelaide Hills, and their soy in Bonsoy. All in all, a comfy little café that I will be frequenting often.
