Maybe it was just an off night… Dining with a couple of friends, we did the usual: each order a dish and we’ll all share. Three dishes, all supposedly medium spice. But it was all very bland. No detection of spice in any of the meals… quite disappointing. The restaurant too was cold, maybe other diners were better prepared, all electing to keep their coats on. A request to warm things up a bit had a little effect, but not much. To sum up… a pleasant meal, friendly staff, but I won’t be rushing back anytime soon, there are other places in Hahndorf that much better value

I think this place a more than a little confused with exactly what it wants to be, but after reading some decent reviews I decided to try it. Well, I am glad I did. This little Indian/Asian fusion restaurant puts out some damn good food. The chicken curry, oh my god, is so nice. Spicy, yet sweet, yet salty. It’s like all the flavours have stripped off and are doing a lap dance on my taste buds. I also agree whole heartedly that the spring rolls are a must! They are open for lunch on weekends and dinner every night but Tuesday.

I’m another that initially found this to be a highly confusing cultural mix. A town that is all about German culture, with a fantastic restaurant that purports to be Indian with a smattering of Asian dishes. I’ve had a few different types of Asian cuisines in Germany, and I can tell you that they’re universally awful — but not this place. No, this place is awesome. Do what Michelle suggests and have the chicken curry. It’s almost a religious experience expressed as a meal. I won’t say anything else about the food, because you need to experience it for yourself. The service is really very good, too. Not the fastest place around, but not slow, very helpful and friendly.

Oh Mustard Seed, you are divine. I’m pretty happy that there is a decent Indian restaurant 10 minutes from my place, In fact I may just go there tonight. One thing I have noticed is that they don’t seem to be open all that often, last time I was there I accidentally skipped out on the bill, of course I paid when I remembered but I was kind of surprised at how easy it was. Not to give you guys any ideas of course. The restaurant is quite classy and the wine list is comprehensive too, I can’t eat dinner out without having a wine or 3 as an accompaniment. Mustard Seed will happily accommodate large group bookings if you so desire, service is fast and the staff are friendly. The food is amazing, what more could you ask for?

An Indian restaurant in German town? What manner of evil is this? That was my first impression. My second impression was that it looked a bit classy. More so than some of the cheap looking Asian restaurants that have opened up there. For me though Hahndorf is a German town, and German food is what I expect when I go there, not Indian food or any other nationality for that matter. With that said I figured I’d still give it a try. I DO like Indian food after all. Well, if any other ethnic restaurant was going to sully my precious German town I’m glad it’s this one. The menu is interesting with Thai spring rolls? In an Indian restaurant? That’s in German town? This is making my head spin… I’m not sure what’s in these spring rolls, but they’re amazing! 2 per serve is not enough, especially if you’re sharing. Make sure you order a serve each. They also offer the most impressive range of naan bread I’ve ever seen. The lamb korma was so smooth it was amazing. Just don’t ask me about the desert. I was too full to even worry about that! OK, so maybe a clash of cultures isn’t a bad thing. OK, this Indian restaurant can stay in German town…
