Update: had a bit of a dud meal the last time I visited. Noodles were good but the ginger beef and lemongrass chicken were odd tasting. Disappointing as I loved my first visit.

A stalwart of Beaufort St, the new venues have sprung up around it. Little Saigon hasn’t changed much. It was our first time at Little Saigon, after good reports from friends. There were a few hiccups, the service was patchy but then recovered(I think we got the rookie waitress) and our dish selection will improve next time — we picked the spring rolls, chicken anchovies(wings) and pork salt and pepper. We would add a curry dish next time. Two dishes were well enough for two people. Given the salty goodness of the anchovies and the salt and pepper pork, the fresh coconut juice was a palate refreshing finish. All up, we didn’t nail it, but dishes were fresh, well presented and prepared and encouraged us to go again.

I had been wanting to visit little Saigon for looong time after hearing so much about it. And it did not disappoint. We had the salt and pepper squid to start followed by the paw paw salad and chilli and lemongrass chicken with rice. For two people, this was quite a lot. Although we did go into to have dessert… The service was laid back and at no point were we hassled to move onto our main course. The waitress who took our order was very helpful when we couldn’t decide what we wanted.

We went here before going to a show at the Astor which was perfect because it’s walking distance and had the set menu which was delicious as usual. I have been here many times and have never been disappointed — the food is good and not high in MSG so you dont feel sick afterwards, its really cheap and its BYO anything. We had the salt and pepper squid which was the dish of the evening, the fresh rice paper rolls, stuffed chicken wings and spring rolls. The food comes out really quick as well and the service is always great. I highly recommend coming here, it’s also great for big groups of people.

Had dinner there on a Sunday night and was very satisfied with both the food and service. Rang first and booked a table for the of us. After seeing the menu and not being able to make a selection we asked for the staff to bring a selection of various starters and wasn’t dissapointed. The stuffed chicken was my favourite and would recommend that one if your’e going. We then ordered a main course each with the idea of sharing which is good because you get to taste a bit of everything. We ended up with an extra dish and and wasn’t charged as the young girl serving said to have it on the house which was a very nice gesture. The seafood with green beans was great. I will be visiting this place again as the food was excellent, service great and prices very reasonable. It’s BYO and corkage is not expensive.

We just discovered this little gem and we love it. It’s hard to get in at times but that is a good sign in this case. The staff are really friendly, service is great and its BYO. The sweet potato prawns are so good! And the hot and sour soup is our number one favourite. We sometimes just order that and go pick it up. Great noodles too. We haven’t yet had anything we haven’t liked.

This is my go-to ‘date night’ location. And it never disappoints. The service is attentive and always friendly and the food is fresh and flavoursome. I highly recommend the beef salad. It’s fresh and the dressing is the perfect balance of sweet and sour. But be warned, it is hot! They do take away as well, for those nights you don’t feel like cooking, but you don’t want to be too unhealthy. BYO drinks too, so it makes a cheap night. Ticks all the right boxes in my opinion.

What a gem! Little Saigon is about as authentic as it gets. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a friendly face that made us feel comfortable. The menu is filled with plenty of genuine(un-westernised) vietnamese dishes that got me exctied! I easily get excited by food! Both of our meals were fantastic and the beef salad was by far the best I’ve tasted in a long long time. and that’s saying something because I’m not much of a salad kind of guy! I just had to grab a take-away menu when leaving, as I can see this being a take-away night regular!

This is a great little restaurant– I just had to write a review on it as I had an amazing meal last night. I dined with three other people and three of us ordered the rice paper rolls for entrée, they were tasty however my father ordered the mince stuffed squid — when I saw it come out I definitely had food envy, it was exquisite. For our mains we ordered the salt and pepper pork which was soft pieces of pork deep fried in a salt and pepper batter, this dish was very moreish and we had to stop ourselves from ordering another one. The caramelised pork dish was also extremely tasty, the rich gravy was rich with spices and slightly sweet. The goat curry was a bit disappointing it lacked depth of flavour, I couldn’t quite work out why is was so bland in comparison to the other dishes, it was also the most expensive at $ 23.00. The salt and pepper mussels were a delight however make sure you share this one with at least 3 people as it is very rich. We love this restaurant and keep coming back due to the great nosh and the friendly service, you can always tell you are receiving good service when they laugh at your Fathers jokes– so very polite.

Little Saigon is fantastic! The food is fresh and delicious and the portions are generous. The staff are really prompt and very sweet. The fit-out is modern and nice enough but does look and feel a little cheap plus the chairs are a tad uncomfortable. The menu at Little Saigon is so extensive, there has to be over 100 dishes to choose from! The Bo Xao Lan, authentic Vietnamese stir-fried beef in a mild curry sauce is my favourite, and all the goat and noodle dishes are tasty too. If you’re with a large group call to enquire about the set buffet, I’ve have it before and it was a perfect way to sample many of the delicacies. I wish I lived closer so I could get takeaway from Little Saigon!

Picking a restaurant for a fist date can be a tricky decision. You want somewhere that shows effort was made, without bringing out the whole shebang(keen, but not too-keen). Its also pretty important that you can make conversation without having to shout at one another. Comfortable, elegant and subdued, this sweet little Vietnamese place is perfect for a first date. Romantic red-tinged lighting, smart white tablecloths and tasty food made to share. The restaurant is neat but not too fancy-pants like you tried too hard. Oh, and it’s BYO! The dress code is pretty much adaptable to your mood. You’d feel as comfortable suited up, as you would in a T-Shirt and jeans here. Now, I wouldn’t suggest this place for wooing a new lady or man friend, if they didn’t also make awesome food. The green Pawpaw and Prawn salad, with sliced pork, is tasty and zesty. The fresh rice paper rolls are wonderfully bulbous and fresh, and will only set you back $ 5 for two.(Yep, this place is gentle on the purse strings too!). Little Saigon offers over 100 other dishes including ones with goat, fish, prawn and venison. My mouth waters over the Squid Lemongrass Chilli; better than yum!

Some friends and I(literally) stumbled upon this Vietnamese eatery after a boozy saunter down Beaufort Street. We had been hopping between bars since about five in the afternoon, and finished at the bottom end some six hours later. Food was all we could think about by this stage and after some rage-inducing rejections from nearby eateries(because kitchens were closed, not because we were so unruly!), we were finally welcomed with smiling faces to Little Saigon. The mood was rich and the lighting warm as we hoovered mostly deep-fried treats by the plateful: salt and pepper tofu, prawn and potato cakes and caramelised pork to boot. I’ve since come back several times and had some fond moments with the vegetable clay pot and goat curry. Corkage is only two bucks a glass and the service is prompt and friendly. Win!

Little Saigon was always one of the places on Beaufort Street that I just kind of blanked out. When you live on a street lined with garish lights and noisy bars, the little quiet places sometimes get away from you. Fortunately for me, Little Saigon found its way into my heart, and is now a regular spot for me to get a lazy evening dinner. The small, quiet restaurant is perfect for a relaxed dinner with friends or loved ones, and the staff are friendly and attentive, making a special note of my allergy to shellfish, which I constantly have to remind staff of, especially in small businesses and Asian restaurants. The Vietnamese menu had plenty of options for me, however, opting for classic rice paper rolls to start. They were fresh, crunchy(bean sprouts) and loaded full of delicious shredded pork and served with a typical(typically delicious) sauce on the side. Thinking that I’ll keep to the standard fare, I chose the lemongrass and chili chicken for my main meal. The balance of flavours was spot on, a delicious combination of all things salty, spicy, acidic and refreshing. Reasonably priced. Delicious.
