Totally excellent vegetarian fare, only had to wait a short while for a table despite not having a reservation, on very comfortable couch, at a very reasonable price. The only negative I would have was the amount of rice they served for the curry is not nearly enough for the entire curry, but the portions were large enough that I couldn’t have eaten it all anyway.

Could not fault the food. Absolutely beautiful. Service was good. Atmosphere can be rather noisy at times. Highly recommend the Bombay fried prawns.

I have to admit my time at Annapurna was let down by the slow service but it was still a great night. The food was delectable and the atmosphere relaxing — all up I would definitely come back for more.

I’ve never had a problem with food from Annapurna. I’m not an aficionado of Indian cuisine and my orders stick towards the tame end of the menu, but Annapurna has never disappointed me on taste, quality or value. They’re also a great restaurant for groups with plenty of space and waiters who know how to handle large groups.

Annapurna is one of the higher quality Indian restaurant chains in hobart, they have this store in salamanca as well as one in North hobart as well. The meals are reasonably priced for good quality Indian, however the atmosphere is lacking as the floor has been set up to accommodate as many people as possibly so during busy times you can hardly hear yourself or others around you. They can accommodate large groups as well which is handy. But for smaller more intimate meals their are better options.

I can’t remember the last time I had bad Indian food, I’m usually easily pleased with an Indian curry of any description. Sadly, the takeaway we had was too sweet and lacked spice — the Vindaloo tasted more like a Tikka Masala and the beef that was supposed to be in it — was chicken.

I have eaten here a few times and have found it to be consistent. The food is tasty and the only complaint with the service would be that the staff are mostly very young, they do try very hard though.

The food here was pretty good. I went with a group and we shared dishes that provided a nice mix. The service wasn’t great — our waiter was a bit young and a little disorganized — but nothing particularly bad. It was crowded and loud inside, and is in a great part of town.

We went to eat dinner here last night and I have to admit the service at Annapurna was horrible. The wait staff forgot we were in the restaurant several times. They did not take our order for 20+ minutes and then when we had realized no one had taken our order, we caught their attention and they took our order. Then when it was time to bring our food out, they brought over part of our food and then by the time the rice came and naan came, the other food became cold. Their food in general was ok and it was nothing special. Don’t waste your time going there and don’t be fooled with the fact that this place is so packed /busy. Aussies just love Indian food, more than people do here in the United States, so everyone just goes there giving the illusion that it is good. Also it probably doesn’t hurt that it is conveniently located in Salamanca where all the cool restaurants and bars are. I heard from lot of people that Bombay House is much better. But it is a $ 5 – 10 cab ride away and we did not get a chance to experience it.
