Machine has enormous coffees, and a large choice of the best tasting creative breakfast options I’ve ever seen. The coffee, juices, eggs –everything is always spot on. This place gets crazy busy on weekends, give weekday mornings a go if you can.

Some of Australia’s best food in a place with washer dryers. Bring your laundry to kill time while you wait. The menu offers great vegetation options for creative, well prepared, and delicious dishes. Only complaint is that the restaurant allowed like 10 loud hipsters sit and stand at the next table which was only big enough for two. I would like to eat without be crowded out by people I don’t know.

Delicious and convenient. Tucked away right in the corner of Salamanca Place is a very good café/laundromat. Was perfect to do some washing here as we were on holiday and ran out of clean clothes! Whilst waiting for the washing, I had an amazing beef brisket sandwich with one of the best house made bbq sauces I have tasted. Freshly squeezed OJ is always a plus too!

A hidden gem! We visited the machine laundry on a beautiful winter morning for breakfast and sat outside. The staff were attentive and friendly. We ordered the three bears porridge and eggs florentine. Both were delicious but the porridge in particular was something special. Generously sized portion with rhubarb and macadamia crumb — a great way to start the day. Would highly recommend!

We spent 3 days in Hobart and had 3 breakfasts at Machine Laundry Café! The menu is really interesting-not just your usual poached eggs on sourdough with avocado and feta… over our 3 visits we shared caramelised onion, spinach and Parmesan pancakes, scrambled egg roti wrap and scrambled egg and feta on toast with beetroot relish and they were all a delight.(Note we got the pancakes on all 3 days they were so good!) The coffee was good, the service was great and they had a great little selection of treats-the brownie is a must try. Our only regret is we didn’t try the vanilla bean oats with stewed rhubarb and crushed macadamia nuts-but if we’re back in Hobart we’ll definitely be back to try it.

Seems to me like the local hotspot for an amazing breakfast. The old new eggs dish was an great blend of sweet beetroot chutney, savoury eggs, salty feta and spicy chorizo. I Honnestly loved it. The coffee was top notch as well. The seating was a little crowded inside but it wasn’t overwhelming.

So many cafes these days are just variations on a theme, so Machine Laundry Café was a refreshing change, and not just because you could do your laundry while you wait. Yes there were the standards like fruit topped porridge, muffins and all those permutations of eggs on toast, but there were heaps of exciting items on the menu like scrambled eggs and chilli jam stuffed roti and parmesan and pancetta pancakes. But when you wave mushrooms, nay a TRIO of mushrooms in front of me, there’s no going back. Both my friend and I ordered The Magic Mushie — and oh was it magical! It was all garlicky fried mushrooms(not soggy like many other shameful cafes), crunchy fresh rocket, runny poached eggs, salty fetta, herbacious salsa verde and soft tangy sourdough — oh mama, take me back there now! I loved the mismatched op shop plates and the wooden clothes horse at the entrance standing in for a magazine rack — great selection too, with the usual newpapers, some interesting magazines and a scribble book! Plenty to keep you entertained, and if all else fails you can just watch the spellbinding rhythm of the tumble driers.

Ok, so i was intending to to go this café. But it was a public holiday in Hobart and it was one of the only few cafés actually opened. Saying that this place is great. It is extremely hipster, but the food is good. And yes it is actually a laundromat and café in one. I had the roti filled with scrambled eggs and chili jam. Also home made banana bread. And it is as good as it sounds. Also the coffee was good — as they are one of the few cafés in the square that does not serve Grinders coffee. I do not like that bean and so I generally avoid it.

Its a laundry, its a café. wait its both! A pretty darn cool place with spunk which can be nowhere else other than in the arty and eclectic Hobart. Now since I dont like washing dirty laundry in public(see what I did there, eh, sorry but it was right there), I went there for breakfast on the last day of our trip. The coffee is seriously good and their breakfast has some pretty great options other than the usual eggs and bacon routine. We tried something which was something like chickpea pancakes topped with feta and avocado and tomato and rocket and some other deliciouness. I kept stealing glances at the muffin which the toddler on the other table was eating until hubby nudged me and told me to behave, socialy not acceptable blah blah. Whatever… So if you find yourself in Hobart on a bright sunny morning with that slight nip in the air craving for breakfast this is your place to go. Oh and the prices for the quantity and quality are good.

If you ever find yourself in Hobart(take not Rolex Sydney Hobart sailors!) with dirty laundry there is no other place to go than this cute and flat out busy little corner of Salamanca Square. Sparkling stainless steel industrial machines that are quick and give you enough time to enjoy a spot of breakfast. For $ 10.50 incl soap, you’re all done. The coffee is seriously good, the service is friendly and the breakfast is delicious. There is a good selection of mags to while away the time as your threads spin. Young passionate staff make this one of the best experiences in Hobart. Check it out!

Eat and do a wash, very resourceful Tasmania! Pretty decent café here, although I did feel a bit like a city slicker when ordering my poached eggs with bacon and can you please ask the chef to make the bacon crispy. To which our waiter responded«She’s a fussy one» all in good jest of course. Because firstly I am a man and secondly its not a big ask for crispy bacon we should all be doing it. Colorful décor.

There’s a good reason this place is so popular. On a Sunday morning with the sun shining, I treated myself to a brekky bonanza and was thoroughly impressed by both the food and service. The«Old New Egg Dish» was heartily devoured but I stopped short of licking my plate as it was only my first time and I was doing my best to maintain a sense of Melbourne snobbery. The coffee was excellent, although the brewed chai lacked complexity. If you’re backpacking, bring your laundry, seriously!

Great place. Awesome coffee, brekky menu has both standard and very interesting mixes. My recommendation — old new egg dish — filling as is a generous serve. Crispy pancetta is delicious.

While in the States I’m an avid Unilocaler but when abroad a handheld guide book is my first resource, with Unilocal being my corroborative evidence for a good review. Machine Laundry is one of those places talked about in the guide books and on Unilocal so you know it’s really great. I wasn’t disappointed. On my last day in Taz I headed down here with a new Norwegian friend for some coffee and sweets. We watched little kids play on a giant chessboard and saw people do their laundry. Hilarious and awesome. Stop by — you’re in Salamanca Square anyway.

Hands down favorite place for breakfast, brunch or lunch in Hobart. I have eaten here by myself and with friends more times than I can count; the food is incredibly tasty and fresh especially the handmade mental lentil veggie burger. The coffee is also amazing with the option of a maximum hot cocoa or latte served in a bowl. If you live in hobart or just visiting this place is not to be missed!

Locals and tourists alike are fans of this joint, and it’s fair to see why. The coffee’s great, the food is delicious, the décor’s kitschy cool, the staff are friendly, and you can get your laundry done while you eat. Located right up in the top left corner of Salamanca Square(near the giant chess board), the all-day breakfast menu runs right through until 3pm. Table service, so pull up a chair and get settled in(either inside or outside) and take your time deciding what treat you’ll have from the menu. Something for everyone, with staples like eggs benedict or plenty of interesting options like the«lame name dish» or ricotta & spiced pumpkin hotcakes. Even the drinks menu is fully loaded, with treats like Dutch hot chocolate or real mango smoothies. Consider maximising your coffee or hot choc experience with a bowl-sized serving. One of(if not) the best places for brekky at Salamanca.

A laundromat and café isn’t a combination you see often, although Machine has good coffee, tasty food and is in a great location. Try the Fat Boy — it’s delicious.

Don’t you hate leaving your clothes at the laundromat? You don’t think anyone would take anything, but still, you don’t want to leave it there for too long. Or is this just my own paranoia? Machine Laundry Café has found the perfect solution to this problem. If you need to get laundry done, come into Machine Laundry Café, which is a laundromat/café where you can wash/dry your clothes whilst you have breakfast/lunch. Because they’re the same business, you don’t have to worry about anyone taking your clothes — you can see your clothes in the machine whilst you’re eating. It’s also a great way to kill time whilst your clothes wash/dry.
