Loved the healthy delight which I had along with a regular capuccino. The fact that they have good internet access is a plus for me. Friendly staff.

Always a favourite. Good food well prepared and nothing is a trouble for staff. Owner knows just about everyone who walks in the door and spends time talking with customers as well as managing front of house. Always feel welcome from the minute I walk in. P, entry of cafes around for competition and this place takes it out all the time. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff in a neighbourhood local where the café’s proprietor knows almost everyone’s name. So, basically it’s like Cheers… without the beer, wisecracks, Ted Danson or a location in Boston. Okay, so maybe it’s not quite like Cheers– it’s better. No pretence and every day they feature a new flavour(or two) of freshly cooked, fruit-filled muffins. Rock up early on a Sunday, have the place and paper to yourself and get in there. Get’s a little busy later in the morning, but never a maniacally long wait. A go-to on Upper H-berg road for sure!

There are plenty of cafes along this strip in Upper Heidelberg Road, ranging from the old-style sandwich bars to the pretension of Laurent Patisserie. But Café Ivanhoe is the only one that can provide me with a genuinely good, authentic espresso coffee. The most common problem elsewhere is over-drawing or excessive dilution of the shot, making for a watery brew — a common problem in suburban coffee in Melbourne. Café Ivanhoe’s owners are passionate about making a good coffee well. Always a friendly welcome too. I can’t vouch for the food yet — but it wouldn’t have counted at all if it couldn’t live up to the ‘café’ name.
