A visited this Asian cuisine restaurant a few weeks ago as it was recommended by a friend that lives in the area. Upon arrival i noticed that the noise level was a little loud but I continued to look through the menu. The menu it’s self is huge with a wide range of options. The prices are very inexpensive making it a great place for a cheap and yummy meal. I ordered satay chicken and rice. The meal was delicious and the use of quality was outstanding. The chicken was slightly dry but it didn’t over power the meal. From my experience I would rather order as a take-away rather then a dine in order due to the high level of notice. Besides that if your looking for a cheap and yummy Asian meal this is a place for you.

Wasn’t half bad tried for it for the first time with a group of people, the food wasn’t too expensive at all but not as cheap as everyone raves on about! The drinks on the other hand are very cheap especially the beers! The food was pretty good, ordered the won ton soup to start, wasn’t the best but was half decent, the garlic sizzling prawns wasn’t sizzling but still tasted okay and the special fried rice was very good ! Would probably come back here in a group but not alone

I would have given the 4 star rating, but I felt that the service was a bit average. Staff was a bit rude and didn’t really know what they were going. The chicken kaarage is a must try, if you go during lunch time there’s usually specials available :)

Extremely busy restaurant — Food was very very average, blandest curry I have eaten in a long time, Green tinned peas in a curry need I say more. Maybe busy because of prices for food and alcohol and people don’t know better. Won’t be coming back, came twice tonight First and Last

Haven’t been here for ages but I remember it being good and it didn’t disappoint. Great friendly service and the food was good ! On a side note bill and Ted was playing in the back ground so that worked in its favor as well. Great place to pick up a quick bite on the run or eat in.

I’ve only walked out of two restaurants before ordering. Kulcha is one of them. Went there today for lunch with my brother. I’ve been here before so I know the protocol. Walked up to the counter and asked for a table. Sat ourselves down, grabbed our own menus and chose our own table. It was 11.15am. There was four other tables occupied. I counted on my way out. We were ready to order within five minutes. Not that hard, we both knew what we wanted. The next 20 minutes was a struggle to get the attention of the staff to take our order. I know what you’re thinking, «why not just get up?» Well, why should I? This is a restaurant that offers«table service.» I shouldn’t have to get up. There was a couple of minutes where there were four people behind the bar doing everything in their power to ignore eye contact and my hand undoubtedly in the air trying to get their attention. It was at this point I said to my brother, «F*** it, let’s get Subway.» The only thing I could’ve done more to try and get the attention of the staff was throw something at them. We just up and left. I could understand if it was the evening and the restaurant was packed, or the lunch crowd was in, but we were there WELL before any crowds. Four other tables occupied. The staff were walking around seemingly without purpose, waiting for the lunch time rush but ignoring our attempts to get served. I certainly won’t be back. They’re a cheap and cheerful place. The food was never good enough to warrant repeat business based on the menu. I’m more than happy to pay slightly more for ANY measure of service and/or better food.

Many times I’ve visited Kulcha with family & friends. Nice easy meals here during lunch or dinner. Located close to Joondalup Licensing Centre, it attracts lots of people just grabbing a quick lunch. During lunchtime, it gets extremely crowded with workers around the Joondalup area. Service is quick. Once you enter Kulcha, you’ll be seated immediately. Food is served fairly quickly. Quality of the food has somewhat changed since the first time I visited them. I do not know if they changed cooks/chefs. But I could definitely feel a change. Mmm… will I visit again? Maybe maybe not. Quite disappointed since my last visit on Monday. Nothing tasty the way they should & not as tasty as they used to :(

This place is so busy! My friend and I came on a Thursday night at 6:00 and the place was full up! What is interesting about Kulcha is that when you call to book they tell you what time you have to leave — which was a bit odd. Due to how popular the place it I can understand why. The servings are generous and the prices are amazing. Where else can you buy a beer in Perth for $ 4.50? My friend and I ordered a Chicken Karaage, Crispy Chicken noodles(I think), 2 beers and Sizzling Garlic Prawns which came to $ 37! They made a mistake and ordered us a main of the garlic prawns — when we let them know about it they advised us that we can keep the main size and will charge us for the entrée. The waiters and waitresses were really busy and working hard to take orders within all the hustle and bustle. The food might not be the best asian I’ve ever had — the servings, price and variety on the menu makes this place a winner.

This place reminded me of Saigon… alfresco dining… cold beers, spicy food… mmmm. Actually, I’d give the food a 3 out of 5 stars… it was ok, but definitely better than some of the dodgy Chinese restaurants in the area. It gets the four stars due to the atmosphere, the value and service. My beef Phở(pictured) was only $ 10. Great for a quick lunch or dinner. If you’re sitting outside, just watch out for those pesky pigeons!

This is another place that some people rave about. It is consistently packed, so you can wait to get a table. This is great place for students, with cheap eats. At lunch you can get a meal for around $ 10 including a drink. Which isn’t bad at all. The servings are on the large side. The food is okay, not fantastic. Not the place for a quiet meal, this place is always on the noisy side. The service can be a little it and miss, with numerous requests for our drinks before they finally arrived.

Kulcha is the go to place for good, cheap food. So many times if me and my friends have brainstormed about lunch, we’ve generally landed on Kulcha, and rarely is someone disappointed with the decision. They have a great lunch special, fried rice with a meat dish for $ 8.50 so you can get a huge meal and a drink for $ 10, that is good value! The food is great, like I said large portions, great when you’re hungry and if you have any left over you can take it away with you and that’s lunch for the next day sorted! It is always crazy busy, but even when I’ve rocked up with a large group of friends and no reservation we’ve found tables to sit at together. The service is never slow and there is no massively long wait on food. Coming here for dinner is also good, you’re guaranteed not to spend over $ 15 for your meal, especially as it’s BYO for drinks as well. Good value would sum up Kulcha perfectly.

Kulcha serves Asian-influenced food for cheap prices, and it is a place where it is very obvious why the prices are low — the food, while edible, is rather average and on the bland side. There is such an overuse of bicarb soda on the meat that there is barely any texture left, and the sauces used are watery. The service is also substandard, with the staff seemingly uninterested in actually doing their job. It can be an effort to flag down the staff, because they are too busy being engaged in activities such as staring at the floor. Kulcha is okay if you are looking for a cheap meal, but other than that — there are plenty of places to eat around the Joondalup area.

I love Kulcha, I have done for years, it is just one of these places that will never not be in the back of my mind when thinking of dinner plans. Wether it be to take away or eat out. I went here a few times in my mid teens for friends birthdays it seemed to be the done thing, book a table for 8, get $ 10 off my mum and that was enough for me to be full and with left overs. The portion sizes are big and its the best restaurant to just pick a few dishes and share them, thats what makes it so cheap. The food is really nice too, and the serve alcohol too which suits me now days. It is cheap and really tasty, I don’t really know what else to say other than, EATTHERE!

You can never go wrong with WA’s favourite cheap eat winner — Kulcha. If you can handle noise, a cheap and busy vibe, then you MUST take a minute to try Kulcha’s exceptional food!(also does takeaway). The setting is nothing fancy, but you can not deny that the food is fresh, fast and ridiculously flavorsome. My favourite dish by far is the chilli beef: it has just enough spice to entice. Don’t fall for the capsicum look alike strips like I did, they are in fact chilli — but if your game, it might just throw a kick into your day! To put it simply, there is only three words to describe Kulcha: value for money

I remember the days when I was a struggling high school student living on $ 50 a week. I would spend my days studying at Joondalup library for the inevitable TEE exams and when I got a hunger pang, that sh** was real. So I took my $ 9 in silver coins and I strolled on down to Kulcha to order a $ 9 lunch special which included a massive pile of chicken karaage and rice. I would take it back to the library and the salivation-inducing scent would waft through the library making everyone jealous. Kulcha is my most frequented restaurant not only because of its huge serving sizes for minuscule prices, but also because the food you do get is amazing. And the menu is extensive. Different dishes from different Asian cuisines. Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai, just to name a few. My favourite dish is the chicken karaage, which I describe to my various dinner companions as «gourmet kfc». In short, yum. But I also like me some Thai green curry. Just as extensive as the food menu is the drinks menu. Milkshakes, cocktails, shots, premixed drinks, and the list goes on. Everyone I bring for a meal at Kulcha says the same thing at the end of the meal, «whooooo, I’m stuffed.» Then when they see the bill, «is that it?!?» It’s worth the trip to the north to get some of the best Asian food I’ve had in Perth. The freshest ingredients, the best service, a cool and lively ambiance, you can’t go wrong. And did I mention it’s cheap?
