It is amazing what you can discover when you decide to simply wander through the back streets of some suburb, and for me it was Café Dockside. Hidden away amongst the apartment blocks, this little café is a real gem. The staff were really friendly, and they made a pretty decent cup of tea(though I decided to takeaway rather than sit down and enjoy it since I had other places I needed to visit before sundown). The best part about this place was that I could see that they were closing up, but they were more than happy to make me a beverage, which I always appreciate in a business person — too many simply say ‘sorry, we’re closed’ letting you go and spend your money elsewhere.

I went here with a voucher for breakfast. The café is small, but just up from the river in Kangaroo point. I’d reccomend sitting outside, as it’s a pretty nice atmosphere and inside seemed small and stuffy. Overall it was a really good experience for your run of the mill breakfast places. I ordered the Canadian breakfast that came with pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The eggs seemed to be cooked in oil, which made them hard to eat, but still alright. Pancakes were very nice though. My husband ordered the eggs Benedict and enjoyed his. He would have liked more sauce, but that’s a standard request from him. The nicest thing about it is that they do table service. Being American, I’m used to waiters coming to the table, taking your order, bringing it to you and bringing you the check. That’s pretty rare here in Brisbane, so it was nice to be spoiled and not have to leave our seat :) overall, if you’re in the area and hungry for a pretty decent breakfast and a pretty average price– stop on by!
