Berry Me is very strategically placed on the QUT Kelvin Grove campus. .. What more could a uni student ask for to drown their sorrows of less than average marks, or celebrate a HD? A nice big cup of froyo, that’s what. Namely so, one could purchase an entire tub of icecream for the price of a serving. But do you get to choose a selection of 8 flavours and top with fresh fruit, nuts, and lollies? The banana flavour at the moment is my favourite so far, but you can never go wrong with good ol’ vanilla or strawberry :) It’s worth the splurge, celebration or commiseration.

I haven’t been to this specific Berry Me, but they have a branch at Chermside which I’m sure is about the same. Froyo is all in at the moment and my sister and I love to try different places. I have to say the best thing going for Berry Me is the banana flavoured froyo. It is divine but that’s about it. They need more toppings and a bigger variety to have a chance at competing. I wouldn’t rush back here but I have to say that the banana flavour froyo is the best I’ve tasted so far out of any of the flavours at any of the froyo stores :)

You know what, Berry Me isn’t bad. There’s 8 flavours(I’m assuming they rotate) to select, you pour into your cup(again, one-size) and while some may say your topping choices(a selection of fruits, nuts, candies and chocolate) is meager, I say it actually circumnavigates decision overload. At $ 6.25 though for my modest serving size of NY Cheesecake and Green Tea(flavour not so present) with almonds, watermelon and raspberries I’m going to say it just didn’t cut it for me. However, looking at the location and the large student population in the area I’d be all up in this FroYo’s grill on a daily basis if I was a student on this campus. Would I travel there now as an «adult» to kill my FroYo cravings? Probably not as it just doesn’t cut the mustard in my FroYo stakes. Sorry!

A friend was excitedly telling me that there is ‘froyo’ in the urban village! I had no idea where, but we met up at lunch and found it. I was about to pull the handle on the chocolate flavour when two girls talking described it as tasting like bitter, off ice cream. There’s only 6 flavours. Actually, I’m not sure. There’s 6 listed, but there’s 9 handles. Combo pour in the middle? I wasn’t game to try it. There’s more toppings than flavours. Fresh fruit, nuts, chocolate, mini marshmallows, wafers, all sorts of things. I went with the fresh strawberries on my strawberry frozen yoghurt. Over all, not bad. Tasty enough, and it didn’t have that fake strawberry taste you often get with things like strawberry gelato. You pay by weight too, which I guess is fair enough. A pretty choc full cup costs around the $ 8 mark. Well, I’d get it again, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it.

Totally rad self-serve frozen yoghurt shop! There are many flavours, although only slightly different from one another, but all delicious. The toppings were a bit scant, and the nut one was blended into a ‘nut dust’, only reminiscent of almonds? Walnuts? Not sure what kind of nut it was originally… I still love the idea of this place, and we enjoyed a tasty treat after the«worst sushi ever.»
