I’ve been to PappaRich before so know what I was expecting. Definitely a great place to have authentic Malaysian cuisine however I have rated it the 3 stars because of the very long time I had to wait before getting served my Roti with eggs/onions. My dining companion had almost finished her meal before I got mine. I noticed everyone else who ordered Roti in the joint also waited quite a while. This is after asking twice how long the Roti was going to take.

There was a short queue in order to get a table on a Saturday afternoon. It’s full of families here eating and shopping at the same time. The iced teh tarik is very fresh and tasty. The pan mee anchovy soup was sort of bland but if you add the extra sauce on the side in it, it makes it taste so much better and makes it spicy too! I thought the roti was mediocre. There was a 10 minute wait for it to come out and it was sort of flat. I was expecting it would’ve been more fluffy and hot but it was just okay. It seemed like a pretty average Malaysian restaurant.

Love this place. Customer service is always fast and good comes out quickly. Get the fried chicken skin!!! It’s amazing. B I also love the roti canai if you want something light. It gets very busy here so be prepared to wait.

Me and my fiancé have been here twice and thought each time that the food was tasty and filling, also great value for the price. First time we went we went crazy and got so much food as there is so many options to pick from and it’s very hard to choose. Each meal was great! The drinks however were not so great, very syrupy and full of ice. The service was great and we barely had to wait to be served and were checked up on. Second time we were a little more sensible and only got a few dishes and a desert. The food was even better than the last time with so many different flavors happening I couldn’t keep up! The service this time however was lacking quite a bit considering we were seated right next to the cashier. At one point we had to press the little bell 5 times before we got someones attention and were waiting for about 25 minutes for them to clear our plates and bring out the sundae. But really can not fault the food for a tasty, cheap and filling feed.

Fun high quality Malaysian fast food. Good quick service despite huge crowds. As is typical in Australia, all food comes at different times. Try the excellent satay, roti and white coffee. Also fairly good Cheow kwang.

Oooooh yeah. Everyone knows I have a «thing» for all things Asian, and so going to a place like this is almost like heaven to me. The menus is enormous and you have a choice of roti and rice dishes with your favourites — beef rendang, chicken curry, nasi lemak/goreng and all sort of chicken. It’s so good. Reminds me of trips to KL and all Malaysian airports. Their food is better than ours, and these places should be all over Sydney. Roti is *almost* as good as Mamak, not quite as fluffy but just as delicious. The chicken satay skewers were a bit dry but the rendang was really good. Soft beef with delicious just enough spicy sauce. I’m just glad I don’t live close enough to be going there once a week. As they say, Malaysia — truly Asia! ;)

FORPEOPLEWHOGETTAKE-AWAYINSTORE: We decided to drop by PappaRich to order take-away dinner. The process for ordering take-away should be quite simple and straightforward: you grab a menu(we were lucky enough to grab the last one, the people behind us weren’t so fortunate), you grab an ordering sheet(of which there were none), and you grab a pencil(only 1 provided, which several groups had to fight over). You figure out what you want, write it down on the order sheet, flag down a waiter/waitress, are taken in store where you pay, and are directed back outside the store to wait for your food. There simply isn’t anywhere inside the restaurant for you to sit, let alone stand, to wait for your food. We waited for 23 minutes until we lost our patience and asked them about our order. Turns out that the food was all ready to go, and had been sitting on a back counter for some while. After quizzing the waiter, we were told that they just don’t call out take away orders, and it was OUR job to ask for our food. I have never before experienced this, even at more budget restaurants. If I order take-away INSTORE, then I expect the food to be brought out to me when it’s done. If I ordered over the phone, then I can understand why they wouldn’t bother calling out take-away orders. And so what do they expect people who order take-away in store to do? Camp by the back counter inside the restaurant, blocking pathways and hovering over other people eating in? Or stand outside and harass the waiters/waitresses every minute about whether or not our food was ready? Which option does PappaRich prefer? THEFOOD? Well it was cold, because of the take-away debacle(it certainly wasn’t because we had to travel a long way home to eat it; we ate right outside the restaurant in the Macquarie Centre food court). I’m sure it would have tasted much better had the food been hot. The food was also really spicy. I don’t mind spicy, but this seemed a bit much for the average person. I noticed that there weren’t a lot of options for people who have difficulty with spice, so don’t go here if you’re sensitive. The roti tasted overly sweet and the provided dipping sauces weren’t at all memorable. I ordered a dish with beef(too spicy) and prawns(good level of spice and tasted good) served with some kind of flavoured rice which looked fantastic but tasted pretty plain. THECOST? Good at ~$ 15 a main but I think I could get better food and better service elsewhere for the same or lower cost GOINGAGAIN? Only if I can camp inside the store to wait for my food, or wait outside and harass the waiter/waitress endlessly until I receive it. In all honesty though, I think the positive reviews about this place is just hype. The food was OK, the service crap, and I think once is enough for me. There are better places to spend my time and money.

I had dinner with friends at this«new» outlet of Pappa Rich on 10th March. Very impress with the service despite a good crowd waiting for seats that evening. Food came out quick and same ‘taste and quality«as the other Pappa Rich establishments that I have dined in. Well done to the Management, despite a new outlet, it was run very professionally.

Went there on a Wednesday night in a group of two adults and one baby. Got to the restaurant around 7.15pm and there was a line of about 20 people. Fortunately they operate on a ticket system so there is some form of order. We waited for approximately 20 minutes before we got a seat. In terms of seating we were ushered to a nice corner table so it was quite secluded, which suited our preference. The fit out is beautiful and tables well spaced. Table size may prove inadequate if you order more than one main and one drink. Baby seats provided. I did not see any prams but I did notice a few tables with babies. The waiters were friendly and responded promptly to our requests. I do have one issue which I will touch on later. Orders are done via writing what the serial number of your meal on a form and when you are done you press a button that is akin to a doorbell, which subsequently alerts the waiters. The menu is extensive and covers a multitude of rice, noodles, curries, desserts and drinks. We ordered the roti canai, hainanese chicken rice with fried chicken chop, ipoh kway teow with steamed chicken and two tea /coffee mix drinks. The food came within 15mins of ordering, with the roti canai taking slightly longer. My chicken chop with chicken rice was amazing(around $ 15). The chop was fried perfectly on the outside and the meat tender. Layered on top was a nice curry sauce. It worked well with the chicken rice. The roti canai was done well and the presence of three curries will suit most tastes as it ranges from mild to hot. For $ 6.90 it would have been nice if they provided more than one piece of roti. The drinks were under $ 4 and tasted great. I did not taste the kway teow(around $ 14). My one complaint is that when this dish was served(hot soup dish), the waiter placed the hot soup near my baby and had a shaky control of the bowl as he used one hand to pass it across the table. I hate to hazard a guess as to what would have happened if he lost control. Overall the food and experience at PappaRich Macquarie was pleasant. I have only been to the Chatswood outlet and this one is on par. In terms of seating it is smaller than Chatswood but the food and service is consistent with the PappaRich brand. Great to see the chain open up in Macquarie Centre where it has been eagerly anticipated.

PappaRich never fails to impress! With very, very affordable prices and delicious food, my family and I were blown away when we ate there last night! The Malaysian food is perfect I must say, and very authentic. Order the satay chicken or the chicken wings, or you’re really missing out! Service is also great and very prompt with no waiting time to order, etc as each table is given a menu, in which dishes are numbered, and an ordering pad. You write down the numbers of the dishes you want and then you press a little button to call your waiter to collect your order sheet. How smart! I can’t recommend this place enough! It’s amazing and you need to try it!

The recently open PappaRich here in Macquarie Centre looks great. Long lines as always on Sunday lunchtime but you’d expect that. We ordered roti canai, prawn mee, chicken rice and deep fried chicken skin. They were all good, except that I could only have a few chicken skins as they were too oily for me. Apart from the long wait, I’d recommend this place to anyone.
