Dinner here tonight was great. Started with a nice seafood tasting plate then a great duck confit with wild mushroom risotto. Chef Ramona has put together an interesting menu with something to suit every taste. To complement great food was friendly and prompt service. I will definitely be back.

For $ 27 for breakfast I would have been better going to the Golden Arches. The best thing was the water but you can’t really stuff that up. Nice place but food terrible avoid at all cost.

Fish Café — get over yourself. For a place that spells coulis as cooli on the menu, don’t make your guests uncomfortable by correcting then when they pronounce«mezzi» instead of «mezzay». This is a stock standard café with lots of seafood options, cooked and served very nicely. The big weakness is the service is so very ordinary — after the wait staff are finished chatting with each other, you might be a asked for your drink order(we waited ten minutes during a quiet period). The chefs are truly let down by the performance of the staff. We waited 40 minutes for our food — just salmon and salad, and the mezze platter both from the specials board. Both were good. With many other options close by, consider whether you want to be treated poorly for your meal out our not.

I’ve only been for breakfast and won’t go again. Sunday morning in Manly is typified by all the cyclists in their coloured lycra lounging around outside all the caffs, sipping coffee before tootling off again. There were plenty of these at the Fish Cafes’ sidewalk tables, so I guess the coffee was good. The scrambled egg though was like rubber and the fruit salad watery and poor. Shame. The juice was OK and I’ve heard the fish is good. Maybe better for lunch or dinner.

The Fish Café has the best location of any of the cafes along the Esplanade. I have been to the Fish café frequently and it is always an enjoyable experience. If you are after fish and chips or a casual coffee, it is best to sit around the back of the café. They are a brand new open sitting area with glass windows to make the most of the marina view. If you are having a more formal meal or lunch, definitely sit in the front. The seating is more comfortable for an extended stay. The menu is really diverse with a lot of seafood including barramundi, Moreton bay bugs and seafood platters for main meals for between $ 28 and $ 42.
