the fellow that helped me at this kiosk was a complete idiot. sold me a sim card that still had someone else’s name to it. after getting a text from optus about my new number, i thought i was done and left for the hotel. it wasn’t till i got to the hotel that we discovered the number didn’t belong to me, and it was out of credit. he took my passport and copied it too. later when i called customer support they told me the salesperson is supposed to take my address in sydney as well. which he never did. it took the better part of several days to get everything ironed out and by then we had only a couple days left in sydney

Fresh off the plane, and you switch on your phone, wait for the signals to start up and then tap to load up Instagr… nothing. WHAT’SGOINGON?! And then you remember — no data. It’s the end of the world. You know what I’m talking about, you smartphone addict. It’s a real issue. Cue the bright yellow signs of the Optus store. Go on, run over there. Speak to Mariam, who’s an absolute angel. In under 10 minutes(well, close… she was pretty quick) I’m set up with a new nano-sim, a new number, and credit in my phone. She’s gone and done everything, and even chatted to me about how it absolutely poured at her house last night for as much time as she took to set me up, and the best way to get to my hotel from the airport. Tell me she isn’t amazing? I now am on my merry way, telling people how awesome this Optus shop in the airport is.
