Maylands Prints & Frames

What a great little find. This business is the reason I love Unilocal!
Upon dropping a significant amount of cash on a print in a pricey boutique in a pricey suburb, I couldn’t bring myself to pay the extra cash they asked for to have it framed, and vowed I would find a local business that would do me just as great a job at a fraction of the cost. (This is how I justified the cost of the original purchase… right?)
Well, I did. David at Maylands Prints & Frames is not one for a long conversation, or even a short one at that matter, but he sure does a great job at framing, at a very reasonable price.
Don’t let the dated interior fool you. This guy knows his stuff!
I dropped my print off just before Christmas, and the look of sheer terror on his face when he asked ‘do you need this for Christmas day’ was painful, but the elation he got when I explained there was no rush was priceless. I have to give the man props, he would have tried to get it done for me if it were urgent or a present for someone else, rather than an extravagant impulse buy for myself :)
The picture is roughly A3 in size, and is now residing within the confines of a beautiful black matte frame, all for the perfectly reasonable sum of $ 70.
I am very pleased with the finished product, and the timely manner in which it was completed. I am now pleased to know that I have a reliable and proven place to take my pictures and impulse purchases in the future.
I also feel like I have to apologise to David, as he fell in love with my print as well (natch) and our last (short) conversation ended with me giving him the address of the shop so he could go and buy his very own… Great minds, hey?
