Chicken Inn is your typical chicken and chip shop with an extensive menu ranging from freshly prepared salads to seafood. In terms of pricing, it is what you would expect and with a location on the Main St of McLaren Vale, it is difficult to miss the small takeaway store when passing by. I tried some of their chicken and chips while staying at the Caravan Park nearby. The chips were salted well however were nothing out of the ordinary from other chicken and chip shops in the southern suburbs. A bit of extra flavouring or something special would have been nice, however they certainly were crispy and cooked well. The chicken was good, however it was slightly more greasy compared to what I usually get from my local chicken shop, «Chargrill Chicken and Seafood». With that said, the chicken was cooked well and had some very nice flavour to it. It was also accompanied by some of the salads that the shop offers. I tried the potato and pasta salad. On both counts, the salads were fresh and well priced. The potato salad was a little bland though and had very few ingredients, which was unfortunate as it had a lot of potential. On the other hand, the pasta salad was most impressive, had a great sauce and packed quite a lot of flavour. The combo deals are probably the best way to go at the Chicken Inn if you are feeding a sizeable group. They do have yiros on their menu, which is definitely something that I would try if I happened to be in the McLaren Vale area again sometime soon. All in all, good food and a varied menu means that this is definitely worth a try.
