Oscar’s knows how to handle larger groups and does it well. On a break from our wine tasting excursion, 23 of us popped into Oscar’s for a delicious meal. The menu, while heavy on the pizza and flat bread, was varied and something for everyone can be found. I ordered a(very generous) Mediterranean salad and added grilled chicken($ 14.5 + 4.5=$ 19). Everyone was served efficiently and we were on our way to the next tasting. Well done, Oscar’s!

Good spot in McLaren Vale and offers varied menu in a welcoming environment. There is plenty of seating in and outside. The food is good and average meal is about $ 20. The pizza is good and seemed popular as a take out option too! The pasta we had was good but a little bland.

Oscars is a main drag Italian eatery in Mclaren Vale, with easy parking/access and a good reputation. Great and efficient service, plentiful seating, good for children, and an extensive menu featuring pizza and pasta but also a lot more, perhaps too much. Typically they also offer quality local wines and anyone that wouldn’t would probably be berated for it. The pizza and pasta dishes we had were good but not great — the pasta a little too creamy, the pizza lacking flavour etc. It wasn’t bad and we didn’t complain, but their prices are average, not cheap, and you expect a certain level of food at a certain price, and Oscars fell just short. A revised menu and a focus on what’s left would probably be a good thing at Oscars.

Look, I didn’t have a brilliant experience. Service tried their best to be jovial, but the food was slow, bland, and at least a few mishaps with the order. My pasta filled with pumpkin and served with pesto cream was what I am pretty sure — Latina Fresh and it was dry inside, with the sauce very bland like pure cream. Our waiter offered me some chilli — bumburner as he called it which was quite fun. Still for $ 20 I had hoped for more from my dinner. We were in a medium sized group and had fun regardless.

Great staff, food lovely, pizza wonderful, the pie is the best. Juke box 60s style, family and intimate friendly.

What happened? We have been Oscars customers for years and it was our favourite place to eat out. We had relatives visit and of course we took them to our favourite restaurant. What a disappointment the food looked different as soon as it was served, the marina pasta was a lil gritty and many of the 9 people at our table had complained at their meals being a lil cold. The service was wonderful as it always is but after paying more than $ 250 for food no-one enjoyed I doubt we will be back :(

After dining at oscars a couple of days ago I’m changing from 4 to 3 stars. The food isn’t as good as it used to be. The pizza didn’t have enough topping and was average in general. The flatbread was basically a very doughy pizza and wasn’t very tasty, again not terrible but not above average. The good things are that the service is quite good, it’s child friendly and has a lovely outdoor dining area. The food on the menu looks great according to the descriptions and with a better chef has so much potential. There are other, better restaurants on the street though so oscars wouldn’t be very high on the list for me.

I am a big fan of Oscars! McLaren Vale is full of gorgeous restaurants and wineries … but Oscars is one of those places that serves good ol’ pizza and pasta at very reasonable prices, and even though it’s always busy, there is almost always a spare table available. It’s also a great kid-friendly option, as the place is pretty noisy anyway ;) When we visited yesterday, there was a noisy bunch of young people who just got off a wine-tasting bus(aka drunks) … but at least the staff put them in their own area outside. We started with a delicious Pâté platter, which was served with flatbread thins, crudities and apple-pear chutney — there was way more than enough pâté on the plate for the amount of sides!(we were scooping huge mounds of it so there was no waste, ha!). For main, we shared an Idaho pizza, which is our favourite every time we come here — with potato, bacon, caramelised onion, garlic oil & finished with citrus zest, sweet chilli sauce, sour cream & wild rocket — YUM! The pizza base was even better than the last time we came. Excellent wine list, great coffee and friendly service — it would definitely be 5 stars if the ambience was better … but that’s part of Oscars too, I guess! ;)

Oscars is located on the main street at mclaren vale. Came here for lunch while on a wine trip was 18 of us. Sat outside was put onto two tables near each other. The food was great, i had the special pie of the day and it was great, the only down side was the service, was a bit slow and not all the food came out, had a few extra side dishes to come.

Fairy modest and relaxed café/restaurant with pleasant outdoor seating. We’ve eaten here a great number of times over the years since it has opened(I have family who live in the Vale), and honestly, the quality of the food has gone up and down(maybe there was a change or two in management or ownership during thus time), though today we found both the food and service to be great. The food is good value for money(I recently compared their prices to some of the newcomers in the area), and as far as busyness and service, well… I advise booking in advance on the weekend, or go during the week(which we’ve been lucky enough to do, which means you avoid the tourist crowd). Fairy quiet on this sunny Thursday, and the staff had no problems with our party of three adults, one preschooler, a baby, and a dog. Thumbs up for real toppings(was loads of fresh, not jarred, veggies) on our pizzas(I remember a time a few years back when toppings were super stingy. PLUS extra points for decent veggie options.

Dined at Oscars last night, found menu very limited, seating very cramped inside had to continually move seats to let waitress/diners pass. Overall food was good.
