This review is being written a few weeks after I visited but I wanted to give the business a positive review online! A small group of friends and I paid a visit to Paxtons and it was a really nice experience. The wine is organic and biodynamic and the business evidently has strong ethics. They also had an information board up which explained how biodynamic farming/vineyards work as a philosophy. You’ve got a fan in me already when I can learn something new from a board like this! McLaren Vale is beautiful and the converted sheep farm to winery is no exception. The gentleman assisting with serving was knowledgeable(it’s a family business!), as well as generous with the tasting serves :) I enjoyed most of the reds and whites we tried and ended up buying a bottle(For approximately $ 15) for my parents and another for my friends and I to enjoy with out picnic lunch. There’s also a few cheeses and cold meats available for purchase although we didn’t buy any as we had lunch packed. I enjoyed both the tasting and the rustic and family business atmosphere

Paxton winery cellar door is an old shed, but it’s come a long way. The indoor is spacious with some art on offer. I like Paxton’s ethics and the biodynamic approach to vineyards(looking after the soil so that it will be still useful after the vineyards have been and gone). The wines are nice, they are reasonably priced and they are good for those prices. I like the late harvest which is a light and sweet white wine, and also the rose is really nice for those who like their wines sweet. The service was great, The lady working was polite and helpful, she also had a good knowledge of the wine and the vineyards.

Went here on a 18 people wine trip, The place is nice and has quite a bit of space, has a nice outside area. When serving us tastings of the wine the service was friendly and knowledgeable, however i found the wine’s wasn’t the best and didn’t like any of the reds.

Paxton’s cellar door is set in an old shearing shed and is one of the first wineries you will come to when making your way into Mclaren Vale of the Victor Harbour Road from Adelaide. I can’t say their wines are my fave in the area but they’re certainly quite popular, with a good reputation and a solid following in Adelaide. They are a biodynamic vineyard and most bottles on offer are sold at the cellar door and online for around $ 20⁄25. The most exspensive of the premiums is the EJ shiraz by a long way which is $ 85 a pop at the cellar door. There are a few seats and brollies outside in the sun for you to relax and breath the fresh country air.
