So what surprises await in store for Yelpers when we step down the rabbit hole into the world of Charles Blackman?

This afternoon tea party will feature T2 teas and readings from ‘Tea with Annie’, spectacular cocktails and fun atmosphere from Refresh Hospitality, sweets from local baker Melanie Dorothy, and warming mulled wine from La Vita Buona.

Set 18 stories high in the magnificent Blackman Hotel Penthouse Suites with sweeping views of Albert Park and the CBD. This event is invite-​only, so if you’re lucky enough to snag a spot on the list, don’t be late for this very important date!

Yet another excellent event. The cupcakes, cocktails and colour schemes were so festive! I’ve never seen such artistic cakes, I was super impressed. The cocktails and mulled wine were divine. the T2 teas were super tasty and warming on a wintery day.
The Blackman penthouse was a great venue, with a lovely view of a rainy Melbourne.
I really enjoyed this event, thank you to all who organised.

Such a beautiful and decadent event!
The Blackman hotel penthouse suites sure are swish and had great views, even in the rain. Playing off the theme of Alice in Wonderland in Blackman’s art was an awesome idea.
Melanie’s cakes were pieces of art themselves and it super fun getting our tea leaves read by Annie.
The teas provided by T2 were also delicious and perfect for such a cold day.

My first elite event! And so much fun (weather aside obviously). The Blackman was decked out in fabulous style, split between the two penthouse rooms. I absolutely loved the vivid & quirky colour room with its fabulous Alice in wonderland style.
Espresso martinis in the black & white room were a dream come true on a dreary Sunday & I have to applaud the cocktail makers in both rooms for keeping everything running smoothly. I was blown away by the sweet treats in the colour room with edible cards on the cupcakes & tiny edible picture frames! They fit the theme perfectly & were delicious to boot!
We didn’t get a chance to have our tea leaves read but watched in suspense as other Unilocalers played giant jenga & had a peppermint tea from T2 to soothe our bellies after all the sugar we ate!
All in all I was so impressed with my first elite event — everyone we chatted to was having a great time & glad they’d ventured out into the wild weather!

Beautiful decoration and really in keeping with the theme of Alice in Wonderland — Lucid dreams. Great shame about the view being marred by the horrible wet weather but the team had really pulled together a great event with great sponsors and atmosphere.
My particular favorites was definitely the mulled wine, of which i do not usually like and the wonderful cakes decorated in theme of the event.
Was great to have the tea leaves reading there, such a shame we ran out of time :(

So I had a couple of choices on the most miserable day Melbourne has turned on in a very long time.
Stay in warm world and watch game of thrones OR force myself out the door, get in the car and be social. I chose the latter and what a wonderful world I entered.
I had a bit of an inkling about the theme or at least the influence of Alice in Wonderland, especially with the dress code.
The black and white room was my first stop and I spied Annie quickly and decided this was the girl to see. I smashed down that tea as quick as boiling water and tea leaves would permit. As a typical sceptic, I was really surprised with how much Annie nailed without asking me a thing. If you get a chance, do it.
The overall styling of the event was amazing and was quite a feat. Has made me realise that outsourcing is really a great idea.
The cocktails (this driver was a good girl and only had 1) was delicious and expertly delivered by Refresh Hospitality. The sneaky few sips of mulled wine I had were delicious and left me radiating from the inside out.
I was lucky enough to snaffle a salted caramel pop for Melanie Dorothy and soon after started bouncing off the walls, or over to the giant jenga, which Lants clearly periscope’d while we cheered each other on to knock it down.
The penthouse at the Blackman is helping me aspire to great heights and would be a fabulous location to either live in or have epic parties at for friends and family.
Overall, loved the theme, styling and effort that went into another fabulous Elite event. Thanks for the invite :)

Cold and wet and it was the perfect weather to curl up in bed at home last Sunday. But we decided that a double penthouse party offer at the Blackman was too hard to turn down.
There was a selection of tea from T2 and Annie the tea leaf reader, amazing array of edible treats from Melanie (think crazy painting details on mini biscuits– wayyy too pretty to eat!), lollies and marshmallows everywhere, mulled wine and 4 different Alice in Wonderland themed cocktails to choose from. The peach Bellini came with fairy floss, the Alice is an espresso martini looking elegant and Delish, and The Cheshire Cat –delicious pink cocktail, and my fave the White Rabbit a passion fruit and white chocolate cocktail.
The penthouse rooms have generous kitchen, modern décor and nice size balconies. We didn’t get to see the rooms but there were plenty to keep us entertained. There was a giant Jenga and naughts and crosses keeping us busy while waiting in queue for our tea leaf reading. It was super exciting to hear everyone’s cup being revealed.
It was definitely one of the coolest event from Unilocal,and can only be topped off if the sun decide to suddenly shine and break through that grey sky, because the Lakeview would just be amazing.
To end the day, the Blackman hotel was super generous to giveaway 2 x overnight package for our lucky Elites. The Funday Sunday and the Monday Cure.
It was definitely the best way to spend a rainy Sunday ;)

It’s not a penthouse party — it’s TWO Penthouse parties! On a rainy cold Melbourne day It was hard to leave the comfort and warmth of my cosy bed but I’m glad I did. What an amazing experience! A black and white room and a cosy bright colourful room full to the brim with happy Unilocalers. My partner and I dressed in black and white and found our love of espresso martinis well catered for by the brilliant hospitality company. I was also blown away by the delicious cup cakes and sweets in the colourful room. It took me a little while to notice but she had printed Blackman’s artwork out onto miniature biscuits shaped like art frames (and completely edible!) and sat them on miniature easles. This matched the room décor perfectly. Other highlights were the candy display (very quirky) and delicious warm mulled wine. I walked away with some ideas for my own penthouse party with friends — the Blackman looks like the perfect location! Thanks everyone!

As a newbie to Unilocal Elite team I was very excited about my first event and, unsurprisingly, Lucid Dreams, failed to disappoint.
The Blackman hotel penthouse suites are truly amazing, with gorgeous scenic views, great facilities and an elegant, welcoming feel. I’m already planning my next stay (the suite overlooking Albert Park is my preference).
Myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed the delicious Alice in Wonderland themed cocktails provided by Refresh Hospitality. The White Rabbit was my personal favourite. I also loved the décor — they’d gone all out to provide a brilliantly MAD atmosphere that was both creative and immersive.
The mulled wine was also an interesting and different experience — and quite a pleasant one on such a typically ‘Melbourne’ day.
My favourite part, by far, were Melanie Dorothy’s wonderful, tasty creations. The lollipops were sweet and wonderful and the cookies were (almost) too good to eat. Almost. Keep up the good work; not only are your creations beautiful to look at they’re also delicious.
Overall a great first experience with the brilliant Unilocal Elite team. Can’t wait for my next one!

Unilocal at the Blackman — making it worth leaving my house, even in the pouring rain in the middle of winter. The weather outside was frightful, but the Penthouse party was delightful! Refresh Hospitality created a fabulous Alice in Wonderland atmosphere with their themed decorations and cocktails. The ‘White Rabbit’ with white chocolate liqueur was sweet and refreshing and I can never turn down an espresso martini!
Melanie Dorothy hit the sweet spot with her amazing array of desserts. Everything was beautifully presented and we were wowed by her decorative framed edible art work and queen of hearts sugar playing cards. The chocolate cupcake was so moist and so rich — fortunately my plus one was up for sharing!
La Vita Buona kept our hands and tummies warm with their mugs of spiced mulled wine as did T2 with their comforting assortment of loose leaf teas. Fortunately Annie was on hand to interpret all those tea leaves with her tea readings.
To top it all off, we had a marvellous view of Melbourne — even if the weather wasn’t cooperating! Now I want to come back to Blackman in the summer and sip champagne in the rooftop spa as I gaze out over the city. Thanks to everyone for such a fun Sunday afternoon!

What a great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon. Upon entering the penthouse floor we were directed to the black and white room and instantly I had the fear of missing out on what was happening in the vivid colour room. The room was great with the feature tea2 tea table and decorations, joining the queue we were happy to see espresso martinis were on the menu, and they were delicious. After hanging out in this penthouse for a while we decided it was time to sneak a peak at the vivid colour room! Wow! What amazing decorations, this room was spectacular and so well set up! We found our way to Meredith Dorothy and her table of amazing treats! So incredible and we even got to bring some home for later. Thanks so much for having us and for the sponsors, the Blackman was a great spot for the occasion and the views were still great even on a less than perfect day!

Sometimes, it’s all too easy to curl up on a Sunday afternoon at home and moan about the cold and dreary winter weather… but all you really need is an excuse to get out and enjoy ‘Sunday Funday’. Unilocal truly delivered yesterday with a Sunday afternoon penthouse party with ‘lucid dreams’ inspired cocktails, edible artwork, mulled wine, a giant jenga and some fortune telling as well!
With two gorgeous penthouse rooms, there was the option of the classic black and white room which featured a tea lounge or the fabulous vivid and bright room that had a spread anyone with a sweet-​tooth would struggle to resist. There was a choice of two different cocktails in each room, suiting the themes but also adding to the fierce debate over which room people preferred. Whilst the weather was dreary outside, it was perfectly accompanied by the mulled wine in the colourful room. For those that felt brave or perhaps curious enough, Annie was on hand to read and interpret your tea leaves.
Thanks to the Unilocal team and sponsors for creating yet another extravagant event that brighten up the weekend. I’m looking forward to any excuse to return to an Art Series Hotel in the future…
P. S. Apparently my tea leaves suggested a trip overseas in the upcoming year, what a great prediction!
