A very cosy place with impressive fixtures. As in most Korean BBQ places the cooking of ingredients is handled by the staff. The fish and shellfish was left on the grill and we had to take it off before being overdone. Plentiful condiments and average non interested staff. Much better places to go for the price

The wagyu was unbelievably good. Wasn’t too impressed with the Angus. Good ambiance and good service.

Great Korean BBQ — and I’ve been to plenty! Friendly staff who answer all your questions and lots of delicious dishes. A great place to eat and socialise. Staff regularly change the hotplates for you and cut up your meat and veggies.

One person was taking care three tables on the second floor. Two of the tables had more than 8 ppl. They just left your meat being toasted until the meat became uneatable… And the price is not friendly at all considering the service and the size of the dish.

I don not recommend you to come here if you want authentic Korean bbq. We ordered combination, but got very little meat for two of us.

Execellent! Both food and service are fantastic, the green tea ice cream is the best one that I have ever had in Melbourne. We chose couple set and that’s enough for two people

What a surprise this place is. Tucked away in McKillop St is this beautifully designed Korean BBQ restaurant. The interior style is built around colonial-era bluestone walls and a wonderful warm fusion of Asian style and comfort. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food lives up to the ambiance. Order something to be barbecued and you will enjoy this amazing experience of your food being grilled by staff over white-hot charcoal logs, all sitting in the centre of your table. The smoke is stylishly drawn away and the dining experience is pretty unique. For me portion size was the only disappointment. They’re not great for a big bloke like me, so be prepared to to pay a lot to satisfy a big appetite if you have one.

My favorite Korean BBQ in Melbourne. Very stylish, but I cannot believe they use actual hot coals at each table, in a 3 story building with a timber interior.

I was worried about the calibration of this place since only 4 others had reviewed. I concur with them for a five star rating. I’ve eaten a lot of Korean BBQ in the US and this was up there for me. More pricey than in the States but it seems most paces in Melbourne are. Scotch filet and galbi were amazing.

Authentic CHARCOALGRILL. Just thinking about it makes me a bit hungry. Went on a busy Friday night and had to wait around half an hour though we booked but it was because of several large groups that did not order on time. There were also some distractions such as bowls being thrown by partially tipsy people on the next table and loud KanPei’s going on, but we did score a bottle of Korean liquor from the kind yet loud korean table full of gentlemen. Outside, the Palace has wooden frames and big windows for you to see in. Staff work hard to cope with the crowds but do a good job of paying attention to everyone. What rocked: Crispy Pork Belly Beef rib fillets Scotch Fillet The above plus a few other dishes for 4 people at $ 40 per person including beers made for a fantastic night out.

My friend and I have been to a wide variety of restaurants in Melbourne and Guhng definitely some of the best service we have both experienced. The staff is not only friendly, but very attentive. Prices are reasonable, the food is great, and they are very generous on sides. If you have never had Korean BBQ this would be the place to start. They walk you through the menu and have prearranged meals based on your tastes and size of your party. I will certainly be dining here again.

Having been to a number of Korean BBQ places in Melbourne(Oriental Spoon, Hwaro, Marroo) I would have to say this is one of the better ones. It’s decked out decently enough; kind of has a warehouse feel complete earthy tones. I’d recommend dining in the basement close to the front for 2 reasons: 1. The smoke that inevitably billows out in korean bbq will rise and so if you’re one of those poor buggers on the top floor, you will be copping 3 levels worth of bbq fumes 2. It’s very close to the kitchen so your food comes out amazingly fast. One thing I must share are the desserts at this place which are absolutely amazing. The desserts are only 6 bucks a pop and you can have everything from black sesame ice cream, green tea cakes and ice-cream, lemon sorbet with jelly and black and white chocolate mousse. You’d easily expect to pay $ 15 for comparable desserts elsewhere. To understand my complex voting system, this place is a 4 for food, plus 1 for the dessert and minus one for the service, which was about as interesting and engaging as a wet lettuce leaf. They are attentive enough in that they bring out the food fast, and replace your grill as soon it gets blackened like coal, but as I’ve stated elsewhere, to get a 5, I need an experience with friendly casual banter! TIP: this place has unlimited lettuce and side dishes if you run out.

Absolutely fantastic Korean BBQ at reasonable prices. Have only checked this place out once as an alternative to the once-awesome White Tomato, but it was fantastic. Apparently they may only do two seatings per night, so you want to call ahead. It’s a nice looking place and was very busy on a Friday night but we were able to a make a 6-top booking with one day’s notice. The food was fantastic. The highlight was actually a side dish whose name eludes me — it was kind of like a cheesy red-saucy pasta-like dish but made with rice noodles. It was absolutely incredible. The raw beef appetizer was delicious too, as were the other appetizers we got. We sampled a lot of the BBQ meats. This is a place that is very hands-on and cooked all of our food for us, which is just fine with me. My only complaint there was that the wagyu — which was great quality and really delicious — was taken off the grill way too late for my tastes, a much rarer cook would have been perfect. I’m usually not much of a fan of Galbi — too tough and not enough meat — but the Galbi here was great, tender and very flavorful. Highly recommended for a group night out. It is a hidden gem and we’ll be back many more times for sure. Came out to about $ 50 a head including two bottles of wine, which was a great deal for such an awesome meal.
