Lovely Japanese food in a cosy setting. It looks and feels like your traditional Japanese joint. Service is nice and the food is simple and fresh. I recommend it for dinner if in the area.

Just finished a quick lunch at my favourite Japanese joint. I’m a big fan of their bento box specials for lunch, at $ 18 I haven’t needed to go any further. The Tempura bento is great, with veggies and seafood tempura, miso soup, sushi & sashimi, rice salad and a small starter it’s bento heaven. The ingredients are fresh service is friendly and fast, making it a great place to eat. The volcano roll at $ 17 is a little pricey but just about my favourite sushi. Yeeees

This place has some emotional attachment for me; not because of my love for Japanese food; but for the love of one of my closest friends in the corporate job I was working at previously before deciding on the alternative lifestyle of being a freelance writer and ultimately working for myself. That’s right it was her farewell lunch. This particular friend of mine decided to move back home to Sweden after living in Melbourne two years prior. It was great to have lunch here with a group of fun, intelligent people simultaneously. Any items on the menu with fish in it is highly recommended for the toughest of critics with a glass of pinot noir. In such a simple, wood like setting you are already feeling quite prosperous without spending too much money at all. Before you know it; two hours has gone by just like that and you are wanting more. The sashimi is fresh and silky, just the way it should be. Watch out for the wasabi, your taste buds will go into a spin. Forget dessert; if there was any on the menu: to be frank I did not care to look. No restaurant of this nature isn’t complete if it wasn’t for the welcoming staff in our own little sanctuary on the first floor; it almost felt like the group I dined out with on this occasion(le sigh, a work friends farewell lunch) lived in our world, as if the shared dining area on the first floor was our own private dining room in someone else’s house. Sweet.
