If you want thick skinned xiao long bao, under seasoned meats and tasteless dumplings then this is your place. Other reviewers are either friends of the owner or happy to get a drunken feed in late at night. Edible food but not good at all

Food was not great. Handmade noodles very disappointing. Questionable hygiene. Had to ask that the chef stop chain smoking outside as the cigarette smoke was blowing back into the restaurant. Doubt I’ll go back. Used to better years ago.

I went back to Noodle Kingdom just last night, and it wasn’t as good as I remember. Here’s what it is: fast, cheap, big portions, and open late. Past that, my food was bland while simulatenously having taste. Not sure how to describe it. Basically, I ate my food, and when I was finished I didn’t think anything of it. Felt like just putting something in my belly. Had the spicy pork on rice, and there was very little actual meat in the dish. Oh well, $ 10.90 is a decent deal for dinner in Melbourne!

Super fast friendly casual service, surprisingly amazing spring onion pancake(I don’t judge a Chinese restaurant by its décor, why should I judge it’s pancakes on first glance?), noodles you can see being made as you dine, and massive massive serves of noodle soup, so tasty you don’t need to add soy /vinegar /chilli(but it’s there if you so please). Fun Fact — this site is one of 4 the restaurant has(Box Hill, Preston & another CBD location in Swanston st)

If I was an Emperor Noodle Kingdom would be my, er, kingdom. My 1001 loyal subjects would be the 1001menu items. There may or may not be 1001 but who cares, the menu practically blinds you with choice. And even if you don’t wear glasses you’ll be reaching for them when you see the prices. $ 8 for a colossal chilli soup with 12 gigantic, succulent pork dumplings? Here’s a twenty, keep the change. You earned it. And suuuure, there’s tons of weird stuff like chitterlings and tongue and various names for entrails that I’m not familiar with, but there’s plenty of PG-gade stuff, too. And the prices. Did I mention the prices?

Very yummy beef soup, the size is huge but I still finish the noodle within 5 minutes. Maybe I m too hungry la! Like vegetable spring rolls also, it seems like that chef is from northern china who is good at making dumpling stuff.

Great dumplings, open later than most, a bit on the greasy side but home made noodles are good.

Had lunch here. I ordered the combination beef noodle soup and also tried the chicken and prawn fried dumplings. The noodles were good, but I wasn’t particularly impressed with the quality of the ingredients; the coriander was kind of discoloured, and the beef looked a little old. It tasted just fine though. I may just be a little picky. The dumplings were good and comparable to any other dumpling you’d find in Melbourne. One thing I really didn’t like was the water, specifically, the glasses they use. They have these dirty-looking yellow-brown plastic glasses that make the water look a bit stale. I’m sure it’s fine, but I didn’t touch it. The service was acceptable, and the dishes came out reasonably quickly. Pretty good I guess, but certainly not the best noodle place in the city.

One of the better CBD Chinese«come in, eat up and get out» style restaurants. The tofu dishes are really good and they make noodles in the front window. Toilets are not the cleanest but they never are. Very reasonable wine prices and great if you want to line your stomach before going out.

I made another visit to Noodle Kingdom today to try their noodles at the request of Ben L. and I do have to say that I don’t regret it. Customer Service: Adorable tiny Asian girl wasn’t here today. I swear I’m not a stalker, but everyone else was a bit mean so that was disappointing. Food: Their noodles are great. UNFORTUNATELY, I forgot what they were called. One of them was Spicy Pan-Fried Noodles w/Pork or something like that and the other Shanghainese Thick-Cut Noodles w/Pork Shreds. I have pictures if that helps… but they’re good. REALLY good. The meat was tender and delicious(especially the pork from the first dish) and noodles soft and tasty. I can’t say anything bad about the dishes we got. Unfortunately, I’m guessing that with Noodle Kingdom the dumplings are a bit hit or miss. The first time I ordered Xiao Long Bao, they were juicy and great. This time they were a major disappointment — not juicy at all and generally unappetising. At least they made it up with their fantastic noodles. — I think I’m definitely starting to become a regular customer, working my way through their delicious menu of noodly goodness.

Guys and girls — those that haven’t tried their noodles, try their noodles! They are great! If you’re lucky you also get to see the man in the front After their recent renovation the seating areas have improved with more people being able to fit in the restaurant. As in the normal with Chinese restaurants world-wide, make sure you check to see that the table has been wiped down before placing your arms upon, lest you receive a free souvenir of chili/sou sauce or I-know-what-the-customer-just prior-to-me-ate-random-noodle-foodage-juices. Have had their noodles on many occasions, with the noodles both dry and in soup and with myself both drunk and not. :) They have been great each time… I’ll tell you what — I’ll go back and try their dumplings if you’ll PROMISE me you’ll try their noodles! Top tip: I think they are CASHONLY. I also think they are open late on the weekends(at least) because I remember(vaguely) rocking into the place after a buck’s night at some awful time Saturday night/Sunday morning and piling into a plate of noodles. Gosh I hope they don’t have CCTV footage of that…

Came in here once when Nam Loong was closed and this was pretty much the only chinese eatery still open on Russell Street. I’d heard about the Noodle Kingdom in Preston — noodles and dumplings freshly made on site — and was so glad to find myself outside their city restaurant. Noodle Kingdom is all about delicious and fast chinese food available to you at almost all hours. Portions are generous, noodles and dumplings are indeed fresh and tasty as hell, service is what you would expect, and prices are super reasonable. Sit upstairs and you’ll have lots of room to enjoy the busy atmosphere, sit downstairs and it’s a little cramped in the narrow passageway but you’ll be closer to watching the noodle maker work his magic on the dish you’re about to enjoy.

You have to take Noodle Kingdom for what it is — cheap and quick Chinese establishment with curt service, perfect for those late night cravings followed by being hung over the next morning. I know the name is NOODLE Kingdom, but I’ll be honest, I’ve never had their noodles. Apparently, at Noodle Kingdom, their noodles are fantastic because they are indeed handmade. Regardless, I don’t think noodle soups are social — it’s just weird to share. As I am very social eater, I very, very, very rarely order noodle soup dishes. No exception here. I have had many of their other dishes that are quite easily shared. I like their dumplings and salt and pepper squid. I used to only come to Noodle Kingdom and order their salt and pepper squid, but the last few times I’ve ate here, the salt and pepper squid had too much salt. But, in general, their salt and pepper squid is great. Overall, I’ve only had positive experiences at Noodle Kingdom, but on all those occasions, I was also inebriated…

Noodle Kingdom is open really, really late. That makes it a great spot for a pit stop or after hours joint on a night out. That also makes this a review that you should probably take with a pinch of salt. Nevertheless, I’ve been here on a few occasions very late at night and feasted out on their noodles, wide range of dumplings and their salt and pepper squid(this one is really good). The food is excellent. The service, as with so many Chinese restaurants in the CBD, leaves a hell of a lot to be desired. Try and get a table upstairs rather than the narrow downstairs bit if you can. They are licensed which means you can grab a beer with your dumplings. The food outweighs the service yet again, which is why I’ll be back again. Very late at night, this place would get 4 stars. In the cold light of day I might be tempted to give it a 3. Based on my experience it is a 4 then.

My kingdom for a fried pork dumpling. Upon entering Noodle Kingdom your senses are immediately excited. Glass exterior walls make up the front of the restaurant where you can see chefs stretch, roll, slice and fill dough, visually informing diners that all noodles and dumplings are made fresh on the premises. The smell is deliciously overwhelming and if its peak hour the noise will be amped up. If you do visit during peak hours expect a 5 – 15 minute wait for a table and at around $ 9 a main don’t expect silver service. Order three or four mains and be safe in the knowledge that all will be delicious and you can doggy bag the rest. Noodles and beef(no 29) sounds simple but is crazy delicious and a good entrance for less daring diners. The beef skewers and the fried pork dumplings are arguably the best in Melbourne. Corkage is $ 2 per head but during peak hours don’t expect to lounge comfortably too long after your meal is finished as there is frequently a queue of hungry customers eyeing your table.
