This is Chinese restaurant, but very contemporary with Western influences and is the sister restaurant to Dessert House Eatery on Swanston Street. I should’ve realised earlier just from the name, but it was 100% confirmed when I saw that they had the same menu. Talk about epiphany in the middle of a restaurant. Customer Service: Pretty good. Dessert House Eatery is a lot more cramped and crowded, so in contrast Pancake Dessert House is much better. The people are a lot more personal, smile more, and in general are a lot friendlier when it comes to service. The food came out fast, which is always a bonus. Food: I ordered Baked Chicken in Portuguese Sauce and honestly it was a bit underwhelming. It was definitely good, but just a bit of a disappoint because I’ve had the same dish at Dessert House Eatery and it was substantially a lot better. The portions were a bit small and overloaded with onions and peppers instead of actual chicken and sauce. Still flavourful and cheap, but if you’ve eaten at the Swanston Street branch you might be disappointed as well. — Overall, this place isn’t bad but in comparison to its sister branch, I can’t give it too much credit.

God I love this place even more each time I visit. Ok so far I can highly recommend the following: Char Kuey Teow — It had really good wok hei, also known as ‘breath of the wok’. For those who have never heard that before, it just means the flavour you get from a well used wok. The Beef Brisket — So much tender beef. I hardly made a dent in the rice. Hot Almond drink — It has a sweet, milky almond flavour. A great way to end a meal. Coconut Milk with Sago drink — This is my drink of choice, however, keep in mind it can be quite filing. I’ll give you guys more recommendations as I work my way through the menu.
