A surprising little gem. Didn’t expect much from this place but with limited time and a hungry tummy a colleague and I popped in for a quick bite to eat. The soup of the day could have been a boring choice but it was cold outside so I went for it and did not regret it. It was a BIG bowl of tomato and capsicum soup and the bread it was served with was irresistible (trust me, I tried to resist the extra carbs and couldn’t).
I also shared some bruschetta which was more like a mini pizza. It was pretty good except covered in parsley and I much prefer basil on my bruschetta. My colleague really enjoyed her lamb pizza.
Service was quick and not overbearing like other reviews note. I’d definitely head back for a quick and tasty lunch if I was in the area again.

Staff can be very overbearing. I don’t like that feeling of them lingering around waiting to take your dishes the moment it looks like you’ve finished eating.
My meal was heavily covered in chilli. Not sure if this is normal here or if I got an exception dish. Food was tasty and clean though. Wouldn’t mind coming back.

42 is completely surprising and so unique. From the outside it looks like an upper class bar, the inside is buzzing with an eclectic vibe; the walls adorned with art works, with an upstairs section you don’t first notice from outdoors.
The owners are vibrant and bubbly and are proud supporters of the gay community, which is great and it makes for a fun vibe and atmosphere.
Pizza, sandwiches, salads and gourmet delectables are all on the menu. They also have functions after hours with a great priced functions menu and have catering as well. A really, really great bar — great food, wine, ambience and owners! Oh and the décor and art — spectacular!
