My wife and I were kept waiting for almost 2 hours for a simple order of a bowl of soup and fish and chips. Alarm bells started to ring when it took almost half an hour for the waitress to come and take our order. What made it worse was we received no acknowledgement that we were still waiting, no apology for the delay or any ideas of how long our order would take. Most disappointed. Customer service was absolutely dismal. I have dined here 3 times in the past 5 years and sadly say this was the worst experience out of the 3 and I will not be returning.

Believe it or not, good scones are hard to find. Well at least I think so. I’m no scone snob, but most places can’t make them as big and fluffy as Churinga can. After all they have been making them for almost 50 years. Service is a little slow, even when the place isn’t packed out, and they even forget my extra side of jam, but the scones were way worth it. My only regret is not ordering another serve. If I’m going to make the trek up there I might as well make the most of it. They also have a range of other desserts, coffees, teas and a lunch menu. From what I saw on the tables next to me, the serving sizes are quite large and smelled delicious. Also, it’s probably best to get there just before lunch to beat the teatime rush.
