A tailor, hey? That’s very Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and generally reminiscent of fairy tales and by-​gone eras. I had to go in and see for myself.
Upon entering this unique shop I met Claude, the director of the company. Claude was lovely in every way and imparted much needed knowledge about tailoring to me.
Tailors make garments from scratch and it’s an involved creative process. Claude describes his business as a bespoke tailoring company and will consult with the client to create a garment that’s perfect for them. Trousers, vests, suits and coats are among the most popular items made and Claude constructs skirts too.
He’s made uniforms for the armed forces and is aware of the irony that he runs a traditional and somewhat old fashioned bespoke tailoring company, using the latest technology in fabric manipulation. Claude loves this ancient art and proudly designs and makes all garments on site.
Sample books abound in this creative space and the price of your item largely depends on the type of fabric you choose. High end fabrics from top mills have been sourced, should you require a really special garment.
Suits will usually take about four weeks to construct and other items can be made in as little as ten days.
I’m glad I found out about this tale as old as time.
